Sprint or Verizon
I've read some of the posts here and also read a bit on another Internet forum about aircards. It seems most are happier with Sprint. I need to ditch my cable at home this month and would like to get the laptop up and running with an aircard before I hit the road. Any pro's and con's, from those currently using either, would be a big help. Is Sprint the best way to go? I don't use either for my cell so I'm just looking for the best solution to an Internet connection.

I've had verizon for a year now and have been happy with it. Has saves my A$$ quite a few times down in LA. Google map and google earth are the best. IMO sprint and verizon services are the same. I pay $60 a month, though I do have a verizon cell too, so I think I get a little discount.

I have had sprint for the last year and have been pretty satisfied with it. When I first got it Verizon had broadband in a few more cities than sprint, but sprint has caught up and, I believe, surpassed Verizon. If I had Verizon cell service I would opt for Verizon air card. Same goes for Sprint. It just isn't worth it to pay the $20 premium if you mix the two.

Hopefully, Cingular - 'cause I just signed a 2 year service contract on a phone in anticipation of doing exactly the same thing! LOL

Simple answer, if you plan on using anything close to 5gb of bandwidth a month stay AWAY from verizon. If not, then it gets more complicated. I have a spring aircard. current special the aircard 500 thingie around $69 startup for the card and $90 for the first month's bill, then it's like$60 a month.

Cool as hell but insane!!..I didn't even know it was possible to get internet in a car/truck/whatever till I heard all you guys talking about it. Seems like you all are more ahead of the tech curve than most people are with normal jobs lol...I can't get over that, that is just awesome if that's what you meant.

I've had Verizon since before they were Verizon. Primeco. I'm very happy with them. I refuse to play WoW, but I do play Guild Wars and on my MacBook Pro! 8)
Don't go with Sprint, you could be climbing one of their towers and drop a call! |

oops! Double post

I have a sprint card and am very happy with it, I've only been in a few spots where it didn't work. WY, MT, CO out in the middle of nowhere kind of places. I download full length movies and have gone well past the 5G limit that Verizon seems to have and have heard nothing about excessive BW use. I signed up for my service when they had a special going. $49 month and I got a free card too, and I do not have cell phone service with them. I saw that Verizon is offering a similar deal this month. Do you research on the net.

we have the new broadband card for Sprint and i would not go anywhere without it. It even roams!! No extra for roaming either and it is TRULY unlimited where Verizon is not (from what I understand) We get signal almost anywhere with the roaming....in fact I am cancelling our internet with the cable company today.
