Hello everyone, hope all is well. It's been along time since i have been on this site. My ? is i've been lookin for a job. I have 1 1\2 t/t exp. I have talked to alot of nice people from different company's. But when they ask how much otr i have and i say well i'm home about every night but deliver in the states around me. they say i'm sorry but we can't help you cause thats not otr exp. So thats it any input on it? And another thing that really gets to me is all you hear about is the driver shortage well in my opinion if they really needed drivers that bad they would lower there standards if you know what i mean. Another thing i have goin for me is no wrecks no tickets my record is clean so what is wrong. thanx for lettin me blow jake hope never upset anyone

If you are really wanting to go OTR then you may very well have to go and spend some time with a company that hires trainees and go out with a trainer for a few weeks.

I do not know what kind of freight you are wanting to haul but there are companies that we might be able to point you to for vans, reefers, flatbeds.

When I was in CDL school there was an older man in my class. He had driven T/T for almost 15 years, all of it local. As his kids were all grown, his wife had passed away, he wanted to go OTR. Well no one would hire him because of no OTR experience and no schooling.

PS. You could try talking to Knight Transportation. They have been known to hire local type drivers for OTR in some cases. Will have to have hazmat or be able to get it within 90 days of hire. (unless they have changed).

Thanx uturn for your insite. i do have about 3 months otr exp but that was over year ago. All the rest of my exp is flatbed haulin dry/green lumber and logs. I just hate the thoughts of haven to go out with a trainer again. I'd hate to get one with less t/t exp than me and show'em up ha ha anyhow thanx again jake
