some good things to know

we are still new drivers ... less then 80,000 miles under our belt... some things we have read and learned can really help new drivers
GMAN had in a post ... use dawn dish soap in window washing fluid .... use a SMALL amount ... this works GREAT ... and always take time to clean you windows and mirrors
always have several bungee straps extra for what ever
candles will keep you warm in winter if your truck quits
if you are tired take a 15 to 30 minutes nap
if your a team driver BEFORE you leave the truck stop CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR PARTNER IS STILL IN THE TRUCK
climb in and out of your truck the right way ... we all have gotten in a hurry and taken a fall ... it's a long long long way down on your back.
please list some good things to help others and us new kids

Never be in a hurry....

Don"t follow to close, leave a escacpe route....

Pay attention to the road in front of you, look at the big picture and always scan your mirrors....

Hey, I used to dream about ditching my teammate that way! Lucky for him I got to a terminal first....

*Carry extra bottles of water with you, you never know when you may need it.
*Always have a selection extra fuses and light bulbs for both truck and trailer and replenish often!
*A magic eraser and a bottle of 409 will clean anything off the vinyl... even nicotine stains
*Baby wipes come in handy to keep you clean in between showers.
*Every time you're in a company terminal, steal as many logbooks as you can get your hands on, as well as trip sheets/envelopes (depending on the system your company uses) so you will never be caught without needed paperwork.
*Make it a point to check your permit book on a regular basis to make sure something important hasn't expired - before DOT finds it for you.

Good Stuff!!! :P

This is the kind of information I really like ready, as someone just getting into the game. I don't believe in re-inventing the wheel. The more I can sponge off you guys, the better off I'll be when I hit the road.

Thanks and keep this kind of information coming!

Dont drive faster than YOU are comfortable with in bad weather. Turn the CB down when doing this unless it is needed so you dont have to listen to the "supertruckers" give you a hard time and make you nervous.

Good one.

On a related note:

Turn off your CB while backing. People will talk trash, and even the best of us don't always make it into the hole in the first try. Some of the worlds best backers need to pull out and try again sometimes.

Hmmm. That one is going to catch some flames...come on guys, let it go and don't hijack the thread. Read about the CB on another thread.

Don't catch "Road Rage." Remember, if another driver (4 wheeler or truck) pisses you off, you should have left 2 min earlier or later. No matter how mad you get, it will not affect the other driver!

Add a 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar to that and works better. Wife owns a cleaning company. 3 to 4 drops of Dawn and 1 teaspoon of vinegar per gallon of water.
