how to handle dm

i have been waiting for 12 days for a trainer. i know Christmas is close so i can wait till after that but my question is how much pressure can i put on my dm to get me a trainer I've always been told you don't want tp piss off the dm or you will be screwed. plus it cost me quite a bit of money to go threw school and orientation cant just sit here and wait to long and 2 question can i ask for any kind of proof that i went to there school so that if i don't get a trainer soon i might can go somewhere else

Depending on how things are set up at your company, putting pressure on your DM may not do any good because s/he may have nothing to do with it. Many of the training carriers have a training manager/coordinator that actually hands out the assignments.

If you went on the school for work plan then you probably will not recieve anything until you either fullfill the contract or pay off the tuition.

As you mentioned, Christmas is just around the corner and I can easily see the trainers not wanting to take on a new student until after the Yule tide log has been burned.

I agree with what U-Turn is telling you here. The DM is not your problem, here. The timing is the real issue at hand.

Just kick back, have a Kool Yule, and things will be picking up shortly!!

Yeah just hang for awhile.... Its hard sitting out here also, and that is what alot of us are doing right now. Freight is real bad this time of year. It will pick up soon.

Good Luck

I want to wish you the best of luck. You are getting in one of the most stress filled careers you could. Everyone looks at the $$$$$$ and doesn't look at the whole picture. I still wish you the best of luck. You have alot to look foward to and you are driving at an awesome time to start. Winter. You will get alot of winter driving in and that is good on your part. Some drivers start in the summer and never see snow with a trainer. So they are clueless. I started driving last november and drove in the snow with a trainer. I am going to a company now that wants me to be a trainer for the way I drive and how I work with my DM/FM. Just remember if your safe running in the snow at 55mph drop it down to 45-50mph just incase. If it is too bad to run over 25 mph it is too bad to drive. Get to a chicken coop, pickel park, or a fuel stop to wait it out. Driving OTR is all about the waiting. Still the best of luck to you driver and if you have any questions feel free to ask your trainer or come back in here and ask us.

Happy Holidays,
Slider
