Channels 19 and 21 out of LA then at HWY 46 goes to 17. Its been awhile sinse I have been out there. I belive they also use 15 out of LA and to Hwy 46, like I say its been awhile. You cant go wrong with 15, 17 or 19 on I 5.

Most run 17 up and down I-5. Most of Oregon is also using 17 although you'll need to bounce back and forth to 19 because many of the truckers coming in from out of state will be on 19.

I run Hwy 26 east - west and I-84 to Hwy 97 when Mt Hood is unbearable. All the locals will be on 17.

for about 60 years the national highway channel has been 19, like the post says 17 and other channels were the local drivers trying to get away from the highway traffic, but poeple have to go were others are so most drivers will go to 17 and I myself stay on 19 and have never had any problems talking with other truckers on the I 5 from california to washington..... so there you go....

just adding my .02 i was told the reason that 19 is the chosen channel is the way that a radio is tuned to the antena you tune on 1 and 40 and the peak will be 19 thus the best channel to use.

Yeah, but 19 was used back when we only had 23 channels.

I bought Pierce Simpson Tiger 23 B in 1973. We used channel 10 for many years. My CB license was KGQ 6917, and I had to register my CB handle with my employer. The change to channel 19 was because 10 was too close and interfered with channel 9, the civil defense and REACT channel.
