Why are you wanting to go to work for a Canadian company?

If you are wanting to run up that way a lot try Buske, SGT, Celedon.

yeah what u turn said stick to American companies lets try to keep the focus on American companies. theirs enough problems with them without bringing in foreign ones.

also Canadians only get paid about .31 to .35 cents per mile that like .25 to .29 US. And they travel have the time in the US.

Wow, this really justifies my thoughts that American's really don't have a clue regarding Canada.

Average pay here is 40 CPM.

There is NOTHING wrong with Canadian companies doing business in the US. We cannot use your domestic freight, only Canada going to the US or vice versa. We cannot "steal" freight.

Are you living in Canada? Can you give us more details?

Re: "We cannot use your domestic freight, only Canada going to the US or vice versa. We cannot "steal" freight. "

Cartage laws notwithstanding there ARE Canadian trucks hauling US freight point-to-point in the US....our boys are just not as vigilant about it as are the Mounties there in the Great White North...Canada is beautiful and lovely, and so are most of its denizens....however, they are VERY jealous of their domestic freight and enforce the cartage rules actively. If you go to Canada, deliver get a load back to the US and get out. Don't even think of trying to haul intra-Canada freight...I don't believe they have capital punichment up there but if they bring it back the first offense punishable by death will surely be for hauling for their freight!

I'm just waiting to see the statistics on cartage as we get more and more of those Mexicali trux up here!!!

Considering our "liberal" lifestyle, I doubt the punishment would be anything like yours. I believe it is something like a $50,000 fine, and denial entry into the states for 5 years.

My company, and other local companies, are VERY VERY strict about interstating. That's not to say that it doesn't happen, but it would mostly be smaller fly by night companies. I'm sure that wouldn't be the only thing they're doing illegal. I hope they get busted.

I was merely commenting on the whole cartage issue allan...I did not intend to offend you..if I did I apologise. The death penalty thing was just sarcastic humour viz the stictness I feel in Canada. As I said, lovely country, lovely people, I love to go there...for vacation! I prefer to NOT do trucking business due to all the border crap! And I have actually had more trouble getting back through US customs than ever passing into Canada. With all this post 9/11 terror and all, I just prefer to avoid the border entirely....FAST notwithstanding.

allan5oh 11-14-2006 08:14 PM

Oh I know you were joking, I just wanted to make it clear that I don't do it nor does my company.

BTW FAST can be a very good program. For example, CSA shipments, all you need is a "lead sheet". No faxing the border or anything!
