HELP from others !!!

:? Hi to all , I'm a 40-yr,old male rookie class-A driver with training from a Pa,(TDI) school . I'm working now as a emt / firefighter making $ 12.20 an hr, with 40-hrs, plus some overtime a week . My problem is should I depart from my hometown jobs or go out looking for a job in truck driving and if so I'm looking toward going to ( Werner or USXPRESS) what should I do ??? from CONFUSED

Dear CONFUSED,

Do your research but first decide what YOU want. Werner, USXpress, Swift, JBHunt and Schneider all take recent graduates. Some other options I am aware of are Roehl and some flatbedders out there.

I too am in PA (southwestern corner) and have many contacts both with recruiters and companies...if you want some free advice or help sometime just pm me.

Hey Bro! as far as the companies you listed I would keep looking. Why do you want to get out of the EMS field? I am a former Firefighter/Paramedic so I can understand the stress. If you are going to get into this wonderful world of trucking, I would suggest looking into other companies first.

Because hes making like 25 cnets more per hour than I pay my lumpers!

People that hold the repsonsibility of potentially saving a life should get crap wages.

The choice is yours- more money by driving and 700/wk after taxes or home every night and makeing less than 400/wk after taxes (is really what it boils down to).

Sorry to "mis-advertise" you that way. I was misinformed.

You could look into LTL too or maybe food service.

You have a US Food Service terminal in your area, Sysco, Core-Mark, McLane. All of which will hire rookies I believe...
