Passing and flashing Brights!
 

Just a little something that bugs me.
When your passed by another truck please dont flash your brights at them! :idea:
During daylight hours it is OK but at night PLEASE DONT DO IT!

I've been blinded too many times, just as soon as I check my mirror to come over, the driver behind me puts his brights right in my face..
Man that pisses me off, especially in hazardous conditions(Rain,Snow etc)

Turn your lights OFF AND ON! NO BRIGHTS!!
Now I know that the newer trucks have Daytime running lights and flashing your headlights aint easy but it still works, or just get on the CB and OK the lane change!

I actually removed the fuse for my daytimes so I can properly flash my lights....
I guess you could consider this crying and whining but I feel that all these new drivers out here should know...

I don't mind a quick blip[ of the brights if that my only option, but I too have seen drivers keep them on 2-5 seconds and it is a major annoyance. I try to use the cb to tell them cattlehaulers to bring it back into the right 8) They're usually going 20mph faster, so its really unnecessary :lol: :lol:

You can take care of the glare problem by slightly adjusting your mirrors. The problem I have seen more lately is those who don't wait but cut back into my lane before they should. I have come close to losing my hood several times. Those doing it are probably new to the industry. It is better to wait a little longer than cutting in too soon.

GMan- I feel you on that! I wait plenty of time and theres always that car that can "just" squeeze between me and the truck I passed and tries to pass me on the right. Better too much space than too little!

People signal too early too I've found a lot of times. It will be just the two of us and I'm passing, I see that he signaled that I'm clear I look over at the mirror and think "Why on earth do you want to be that close to me?".

I can see why it is helpful in heavier traffic areas, so that you can get out of the left lane as soon as possible, but these people that do it way out in the middle of no where. It really is unneccessary...

A quick flash isn't blinding even at night if your mirrors are aimed properly and you're not staring into them. If you're staring into your mirrors long enough to be blinded, that means you're not watching the road ahead and that's baaaaaad m'kay?

I normally would agree, but some people's lights aren't aimed properly either. It usually doesn't bother me, but every now and then I get a guy whose lights seem to be aimed funny and it gets me right in the eyeball.

I prefer people don't flash their brights and just flip them off while leaving the markers on if they are going to do it. Better yet don't do it at all, I can see when I'm clear.

Hey what ever happened to legal use of bright lights, like when you can use them and when you cant. Seems to me this question is asked when you take your drivers license TEST!!! You shouldn't have to adjust your mirrors to accommodate the jerk that has to use his high beams. I would rather not have the help when passing if high beams are the persons only option, been driving a long time an I know when I'm clear and if there are some that don't know when they are clear to come back in then don't PASS or go back to school!!! On a clear night no reason for this practice, now in a heavy rain when its hard to see anyway I say the high beams would be more helpful and not hard on the eyes. Boy I will probably catch h@#l for this one!! Just don't encourage anyone to use their BRIGHTS!!!
This was not directed to just 1 person I hope this is understood.

Even if you do not need the help, drivers are doing this as a courtesy. I do not need the clear sign either, but it aggrevates me when someone doesnt do it, and it really aggravates when you flash the lights and the guy gets over and doesnt say thank you.

I always say thanks. I will signal if there is heavy traffic so the guy can get over as soon as it is safe, but way out in the middle of no where I tend not to do it, just seems silly when you have all the road in the world to pass..
