Speeding ticket in a constrution zone..

Im thinking what to do with my situation.. I got a ticket going 20 over the limit in a construction zone.. Here are my four choices that I feel I have..Which one would you go with..

1. pay the ticket which I refuse to do..

2. go at it myself in court..

3. get open road or tvg pro driver.

4. hire a local lawyer where ticket was issued to see if I can at least reduce the fines and or points or an outright dismissal..

As of right now I have no accidents and or tickets on my CDL.. and do still until this point have a safe driver status and want to keep it that way.. I have a good idea which one I may go with..but I want to hear what others think that have in the know or gone through this situation before... Thanks in advance to all who reply..

So, the ticket was warranted, but you just want to get out of it?

ordinaryguy 10-11-2006 02:15 AM

why were you going so fast in a construction zone in the 1st place?

Monster Rig 10-11-2006 02:16 AM

Jbroad572 I wont go so far as to say that the tickect was warranted because Im not guilty.. But anyways..who dont want out of something that all it does is grab money from your pocket..Forget the fines..if that was it I wouldnt have a problem with it.. Like I said its just money..
But it affects alot of other things like..insurance etc etc..Tickets are just money plain and simple.. ..thats all they are.. Revenue generators..As a side... fwiw.. there were no workers present in the construction zone..
For instance cop knows that Bob from boston is not going to go to New mexico to fight the ticket..They just think that all people are dumb and will just pay the ticket without knowing full well what the real cost will be for doing just that by paying it..

Get a lawyer now.

And knock offf the innocent act. Your attorney won't even go that route. The best you can hope for is to plea it down to a lesser offense. Even if all the lawyer can do is reduce it to "speeding 1-10 over" it makes a big difference. Construction zone or not, a 20 over ticket will hurt you, especially if you ever apply with another trucking company.

Construction Zone Speeding

"hire a local lawyer" The local lawyer probably knows the judge he'll be in front of. BTW, slow you a*s down in construction zones! You'll probably save some kids' dad's life.
And you expect us to believe you were just doofing along at the construction zone speed limit and the Big Bad Bear snuck from behind your DOT bumper and ticketed you for speeding and for the the increase of revenue in that jurisdiction? BOL

Where did you get the ticket?

Monster Rig 10-11-2006 03:23 AM

DesertRat I appreciate your answer.. Finally someone actually answered what I asked.. :) Thats the route im gonna go..with the lawyer..To give you just a little more info.. All the contruction zones Ive ever seen before
or ever been through mostly were 55mph or 60mph...As far as the signs that I saw last it said 65mph..I was going 55 mph what I felt was 10 under
and a safe speed.......Would you not feel innocent.. On the way back on return trip where I got the ticket.. I looked to verify just what I stated..I would not have purposely been going 20 over or even 10 mph over the speed limit in any construction zone.. After all thats why I have a safe driver status and no tickets until now..I dont need to lie about it desertrat this isnt court.. ....What will that get me anyways.. .. I was
going under the speed limit from the sign that I last saw..Believe it or not..

Innocent? I'll bet the judge will . .

. . take one look at that ticket and laugh out loud . . "that (cop) is such a kidder!"

This reminds me of the day I was approaching Snoqualmie Pass, westbound, when another truck flew by me . . as I was approaching the T/A exit at the bottom of the hill, there he was, parked in front of a DOT van and screaming over the CB . . "criminal speeding! They're going to charge me with criminal speeding!" . .

I can't find the words to describe how bad I felt for the guy . .

Oh! Wait! I remember, now . . I laughed my rearend off!

Best of luck to you. Option 5 . . surrender CDL before the judge takes it.
