I know quite alot about Oregon.... I live here. Go to the website: www.tripcheck.com it gives you all the road conditions 24/7 with cameras.

Be careful coming down Siskyou Summit (I-5 NB) 6% for six miles , Canyon Creek Pass (I-5 NB)6% for eight miles, Sexton Mtn I-5 SB 6% for 4 miles. And Cabbage on I-84. I have seen many trucks who have cooked their brakes on those hills.

On the steeper hills, how slow do the signs tell you to go
The signs usually tell you something like this:

Truck weight:
40,000-50,000 35mph
50,000-60,000 30mph
60,000-70,000 25mph

The speeds and weights given are just a made up example, but that is pretty much how the signs will look. The weight is your total weight, not just load weight.

Remember you will go down a steep grade to fast only once, after that you will need a change of underpants and you will never make that mistake again!
