new illinois trucker needing help!
hi guys -
my husband has close to 20 years of driving experience - local only - & finally made the big step this week & bought his own semi. he'll be trying to lease on with roadlink usa out of rochelle, illinois. we know how expensive plates are in illinois & are wondering how we can plate it in a different state or if that's even possible?!? thanks a million & glad i found this awesome site!! :) |
The only way for you to be able to plate in a different state is to live there. The days of setting up dummy residences to get by with cheaper commercial vehicle licenses are over.
The only other way is if you were to buy your plates from your carrier if they have offices in another state. |
Most states will require proof of residency. As Uturn suggested, you may be able to get plates in another state if your carrier has an office in another state. Illinois is a very expensive state in which to buy base plates, especially if you live in-state.
