Not sure about SC but in AL a 3 axle tractor and 2 axle trailer its possible to get 104 on the pretrip. I think 86 passes. They are really funny about terminology, properly mounted and secure, all parts present and secure, no leaks, no damage, etc. On the basic skills (backing test) In AL we do a forward stop, a straight line backing and alley dock. As long as you don't hit cones and don't exceed your pull ups (3 on straightline and 4 on alley) you should pass. You have to get the rear of the trailer within 4 ft of the back line on the alley dock and the front bumper with in 2 ft (I think) on the forward stop. Its not hard if you are in class for it then chances are the instructors have tested enough students or seen enough tested that they know what you are graded on and what most people do wrong so they can put a little extra emphasis on those areas.

Good Luck,
Doug
