Misdemeanors MUST be 10 years old? ?
 

I applied at the following schools/companies...

CR England
Swift
Prime
CRST
Schneider
Driver Solutions/USA Truck

Of the 6, 2 have told me that a 9 year old misdemeanor is unacceptable for them. They did say to apply again when 10 years have passed.

The misdemeanor was for Ulawful transaction with a minor.
Basically it is contributing to the delinquency of a minor, but termed different in KY.

All the other companies seem to be OK.

I did email the other companies and let them know about everything I had since I got a criminal record check back.
Had 2 misdemeanors in Ohio. Both dismissed. But they should know that already since they pulled a report from USIS...right?
I just wanted to make sure all bases are covered so I don't get sent home from orientation.

Many companies won't do any background checks on you until you show for orientation. BOL

Companies have different policies concerning criminal records. It is always best to be up front about those things.

That is all I am doing...being upfront!

You crimminal background check will only reveal convictions, not arrests or charges that were dismissed.

I know of a guy who was arrested and charges were later dropped. They didn't even go to court, but it is still on his criminal background history. I believe that some states will expunge criminal histories of non-convictions. I have no idea if it is all states.

yeah that's definitely not true. i've had plenty of background checks where it's like, whoa this guy's not going to make it - but all the charges are dismissed. they also list sometimes when they've plead 'guilty to lesser'.

of course i'm sure this all depends on the state the records are from. everyone does things differently.

Ooh, goodie, a topic that I know about all too well! I spend quite a few hours a week at work looking at criminal history statements from lots of states. Mostly from Oregon, but I deal with every other state too. From what I've found, most states list everything you've ever been charged with along with the disposition (outcome i.e. convicted, dismissed, and so on). But, they only list crimes, not violations. And, here is the strange part: In most states (mine included), you can submit a form to the state police or department of justice and get a criminal history statement on anyone you want. Yeah, kinda freaky. So, if my neighbor makes me mad and I'm vindictive and want to spread rumors, I can file with the state and recieve a copy of his combined criminal history in the mail. The reason is it's all public record, and cannot be leaglly sealed. I didn't know that until recently, just kinda thought it was surprising.

Just talked to Driver Solutions/USA Truck.

The recruiter said he knew I had issues/concerns with my past.
He told me he faxed all my info to USA Truck and he guarantees me 100% acceptance at USA Truck.

I talked to the guys at USA Truck. They said they have no info at all on me. But they did say if my recruiter
said I'm in, then I am in.

I Still have some doubts....
