Home daily jobs???

I posted this question on another board but figured I'd ask here as well...

I see plenty of web sites and companies out there that offer employment for otr work but what about a web site that list companies that offer home daily and/or local work?
It seems as if only the state schools that are training you have the inside scoop on which companies are offering these jobs, particularly for recent grads. I see a few ads here and there in my local papers, but all want experienced drivers.

If you want to deliver groceries, you might want to check out SYSCO,or Ben E Keith,or US Food Service. Those are local jobs. Of course you have your local LTL freight companies, but like you said,it can be tough getting on those. The major carriers that offer local jobs are usually in the larger cities. I dont know of any websites right off hand that have local jobs. You may want to check out www.careerbuilder.com or www.monster.com and see what might come up. www.fleetdirectory.com has a list of trucking companies. Not all companies are on that site, but they do have a large list.

A good place to start locally is Pepsi. coke, beer haulers, etc. They will take you with no experience and if you hate it try to hang on for a year. After one year more opportunities will be avilable to you. Good luck!

HHG moving companies are always looking for CDL drivers for local work. Pay is at least 15 and goes up greatly from there.

I'm not aware of any job listings for local work online that are similar to CAD for OTR.

I've found that the best sources are the Want Ads in the sunday paper, some of the general interest job sites like careerbuilder and monster. In some cities your craiglist may have some listings as well under skilled trades.

Happy Hunting.

Try your local newspaper or website, thats where I found most of mine at. Also, don't forget to just drop by a terminal in your area, they are almost always hiring.
