Best Greasy spoons!

Ive found a few but by far Int 95 mm 68 in Canadys SC is Awesome!
Just goto the shell station and theres a small buffet with all southern cooking.
Great ribs, catfish, and sweet tea!
I stop there every chance I can get and get the take out buffet!
Also make sure to grab some fried and boiled peanuts b4 you leave for the road.
Its good to post these as they keep business alive for them...far too many travel centers and subways

Any others out there?

There are three places in WI that are not likely to disappoint you. First is WILDERNESS CROSSING in Wittenburg, WI, Second is ABBEYLAND TRUCK STOP in Curtis, WI, mm127 on SR 29. The third is 51 TRUCK STOP on US 51, just south of Merrill, WI. I've NEVER been disappointed at either of them.

Whiteline Resturant in Salmo BC.

Great food, easy parking and they have a rock inlaid picture of a truck on the front of the resturant.

I have been eating there since the late 70's and the grub is worth the stop.

Also, It is the last stop before you start to climb up the Kootenay Pass and it might be the last time you eat for several hours depending on the weather.

Not any more. They tore it down and its becoming a PILOT. yep you guessed it. Mike held out as long as he could. but the owners sold out. Went to court and all over it due to having a contract with them. SUX

But if your that way then stop in at the Grovertown truck stop west of there. Good food too. But watch the potholes in the parking lot.

Bumper 09-05-2006 06:56 AM

Went to a Crazy D's just outside Indianapolis Indiana that was pretty darn good too.

inmate1577 09-05-2006 11:15 AM

Starvin' Arvins in Fruita, Colorado.
The best I have had so far.

Fozzy 09-05-2006 11:25 AM

The Hwy 37 Cafe in Vallejo CA. I dont even know if it's still open, but when you order a burger or a breakfast, you'd better be starving! Not a truck stop, but they have a big ole lot!

man that really sux that was a DAMN good place to eat.am i to assume that PILOT bought all of the crazy D chains or just that specific stop??

Bakers Catfish resturant between Muskogee and Wagoner on 69 hughway in Oklahoma. I am not a big fan of oinion rings but wife and other people say they are the best anywhere. Small plate is big enough for a meal of its own. Also the normal fare is good, steaks catfish burgers ect. Its not a truck stop and you have to park in the parking area beside the highway the Ohp uses to set up portable scales (trucks park there to sleep also) and walk about 100 yards

Wilderness Crossing is Decent-The Building is AWESOME and probably one of the Prettiest truck stops anywhere.
If you happen to go there get some of the Smoked Meats they sell that are processed not far from the Place.

The very BEST food at any truck stop I've been to is the Petro at Sturtevant Wisconsin. They have Prime Rib night and other Excellent Meal specials served and Cut by an Attendant like at Fine Restaurants.
I suppose you've eaten at the Old Log Cabin in Wausau eh? Haven't been there in Years but it had truck parking.

BigBird01 09-07-2006 03:59 AM

Not sure the name of the place but I think it is exit 185 on I40 just west of flagstaff they have some good burgers. Think it is called Bellemont its on the north side of the interstate. There is a harley place on the other side.

bcbasher 09-07-2006 11:16 PM

GoldiesPlating 09-08-2006 12:05 AM

Lately I've been eating at a few of the Iron Skillet stops. They have a $9.95 rib eye staek special which is actually delicious AND filling!

Clarks at exit 45 on I55 in Wilmington Il. is pretty good.

Yanke_driver 09-15-2006 11:20 PM

Donna's travel plaza @ exit 202 or 206(i can't remember right now) on I-5 in Marysville, WA. Had some take out mac & cheese and sweet & sour meatballs from there the other day...damn it was good, and cheap! Two large containers of food and a coffee for under 5 bucks.

Martha's restaurant in Murray, KY was a great place to eat as well.

marcel27208 09-16-2006 12:33 AM

O ya, and Arlenes truck stop on hwy 17 in Ontario forgot the name of the town though.

Good home cooked food, good conversation, even the politics seemed to jive....just a very pleasant place to eat.
Maybe one of the canadians can help.

I second that emotion!

Check out Heitmiller family steak house - exit 343 off of I-35 just north of Waco TX - get the petite fillet and cut it with a fork. Well worth the stop.

Plenty of truck parking and very trucker friendly! ! ! MMMmmmmmm!
