Now.... just sit back and wait. Highwayman will be here soon to say you're lying or that you should have been at home mowing the lawn and doing the dishes!
Hes probably out on an 18 days run.

What?? And only getting PAID for 14 of them?? NO way!! Not the Highwayman!

Besides, this is a thread about enjoying your Off time while on the road. I don't think he ever mastered that.

Two weeks ago, I delivered to Richmond, CA, parked the truck in Oakland (won't do THAT again!) and took the BART into San Francisco to eat seafood on Fisherman's Wharf!

Last week, I was in Portland and missed out on my chance - but laid the groundwork for next time - to rent a car and drive up and down the Oregon coast!

One trip soon, I will leave a day early for California, and stop in Williams and take the one day train up to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon!

There are LOTS of things we can do, with just a little time off, while out on the road! I strongly suggest ALL make the effort to DO so!

:) You just talked about my ex stomping grounds and my current stomping grounds. :) Bay Area Rapid Transport.... ah what memories. Used to live in Fremont... ate dinner on Pier 39 more than once. Next time you are their head over to the Embarcadero center. Cool little shops and restaurants. You might even be able to catch a local street fair. Fast forward 8 years.... Now you mention Williams, Arizona. I currently live about 40 miles south. I have taken the train twice. Once in the summer and once in the winter. The winter ride is much better if you can swing it. You even get a complimentary train robbery courtesy of the local cowboys. :) At both train depots there are nice little hotel/condos if you care to spend the night.

If you are ever in the Memphis, Tennessee area and are a fan of Elvis stop by his mansion for a nice little tour. Plenty of free semi truck parking. (The Elvis channel on Sirius radio is DJ-ed from his mansion)
I still need to make it over to the Rock and Roll hall of fame... I believe its in Ohio. :)

That's "Rock 'N Roll" and yes, it's in Cincinnatti, I believe!

Well.... I get a second chance! I leave tomorrow for Portland again! This time I get to control when I arrive, and I've lined up the rental car. I'm going to experience the Pacific Coast of Northern Oregon again, for the first time since I was a KID! Woo Hoo!

I MAY go dunebuggy riding on the Dunes! Or go crabbing in a little boat! But, Im gonna do SOMETHING! I'll be there by noon (local) and drop my trailer. Don't go back to get it for almost 24 hours. Yeah... THIS is why I got into trucking! 8)

Never ever park and leave your truck in Oakland-Good chance it won't be there when you get back or you'll have a lot of Pieces missing. :P

Once parked on an offramp and walked back up the road a bit to watch a Civil War reenactment near New Market, Virginia... another time was laid over sans trailer for the weekend in Chesapeake, Virginia. Managed to bobtail over to Yorktown Battlefield and spent the entire day there where Cornwallis surrendered to Washington ending the American Revolutionary War. The next day I spent on the beach which was filled with a bunch of kids half my age. Felt a little out of place, but dipped my feet in the Atlantic. Beats spending all weekend at the truckstop. :D

I'd Love to see that-What an Awesome Victory that was.

Well.... you wouldn't actually see THAT! As I'm sure YOU know, Cornwallis sent his Aide to surrender his sword to Washington! Some say he was too embarrassed, too weak. I say, he "snubbed" us! He refused to believe he had lost to the American "rebel rousers!" But, perhaps he could be forgiven. It was the FIRST time in history that the British Empire had been beaten! And it was done by Americans!!

We have a proud heritage! We have NEVER been beaten on the battlefield, or in political freedom! We have won MANY wars, skirmishes, battles of will.

WE WILL NOT LOSE THIS FIGHT!!

We will accept the sword of Salladin in surrender ONLY if he offers it himself! And broadcasts it on Al Jazeerah for ALL the Muslim world to see!

OORAH!!!

golfhobo 09-14-2006 05:53 AM

Ooops! Just realized that Sans Argonauts made that statement. Yoopr just didn't know how to use the quote function... or was too lazy to.

Anyway... y'all get my point!
