Default Im still trying to do the Math

IM assuming to make a $1000 a week you have to work 70 hours. Thats a guess because noone on here seems to really know how many hours they are working. Thats comes to $15 or $16 an hour and you dont get paid for overtime? And isnt truck driving in the top ten for the most dangerous jobs? Sandwiched between stuntman and urban cop? I mean thats it right? And you still have expenses coming out of that right? Like meals, lodging, and hemmoroid ointment. ( doctor prescribed lidocreme %5 is a miracle from god). I guess $16 an hourwould be ok if not for the lack of overtime. John

I "work" on average about 45-50 hours per week. I'm home every Friday and leave out Sunday or Monday. My average pay is around $1,000 per week before taxes.

Expenses? Meals, yes. I have to eat. I would also have to eat food if I lived at home. Food at home isn't free either. Lodging? Why would I pay for a motel room when I have a bed 4 feet behind me? Hemroid cream? 13 years of driving and I've never needed it.

Go back to McDonalds and mop the floors. I'd tell you to flip burgers, but they don't cook their food.

So is there a question here??
I get paid by the trip and if I keep the door closed and the wheels turning I make more than your "$16" (much more)
if I get stuck in traffic or snow then I don't. I'm home dayly and have weekends off. This is by far the easiest job I've ever had so if you you have a REAL question ask it other wise......

I'd love to have an hourly job that got me home every night to my free food and no expenses (you know, homes and such are free).

I'm home every night, but mine aint free. I'm still paying for it...

bamajohn, it all depends on what job you land, and what you want to do. As far as expenses go, people have expenses, no matter what job they have. it just so happens that truckers get paid by the mile. If they got paid by the hour, most trucking companies would belly up.

Funny story to add to this. I worked for Venezia Transport for about 3 weeks driving local. I was hauling dry bulk cement and getting paid on tonnage. The only non hourly driving job i ever had. I was avg. 13hr a hr. I called the office and told them i quit cuz i was only making 13hr on avg. They told me i cant figure out my pay on a hourly scale and look at the numbers at the end of the year. I laughed and that was the end of that.

My time is worth something. Its a hell of alot more then 13/hr. Making over 50k a year is not a big deal if your working 60+ hours a week to get it.

Time away from family and friends is worth more than $13-15 an hour

I did some local driving this summer. I was working 18-20 hours per day (4-6 hours off). Yes, I made good money, but exactly when was I supposed to see my family when I was either at work or asleep?
