Default why the heck would anyone want to drive a truck

driving truck for a living sucks.
i rarely have fun anymore.

im home 7 days a month ( not bad compared to some)
i have to spend too much money on the road
i have to work a crapload of hours to make good money
i could kill someone or myself in this thing
if i get too many tickets or accidents, i will lose my job
truckstops stink
traffic sucks
tarping sucks
cops suck
winter is here and i will have to drive/chain in the snow

i shoulda went to college

if your thinking about driving a truck, do yourself a favor, try something else.
if there no other option, be prepared to have a hard life

Yep it is not easy and it is not for everyone. I would sooner drive a truck all day long though than wear a tie and sit in an office or sweat to death in some mundane factory any day of the week.

At the same time though with all the new rules coming out in various states and cities I am glad I am off the road.

You're from a big city. Why not look for a local job?

It can be hard, at times. All I need to make it all better is to meet 1 pain in the ass shipper. Once, twice or (rarely) three times a week I get to meet some miserable prick in a miserable place doing a miserable job. And doesn't misery love company! Try as they may to make me miserable, I always leave with a big grin and in no doubt of why I choose to do what I do.

Well, all the jobs that require schooling are not my forte.

I'm facing a bit of challenge, but slowly getting myself fit again for a larger carrier.

Once I'm able to get back to OTR, with all the Qualcomm, bells and whistles, I know I'll truly be happy.

But, from another thread, I'll only seriously start looking towards college once I find one where the instructors/counselors encourage you to succeed, instead of the "try-something-else" BS from them too.

But on a lighter note, hang in there, get the experience and you'll get what you want.
