Yeah, all18wheels, I have days like that too. All in all, though, I enjoy it mostly.

I have one thing that's killing many opportunities for me, but also may be my way to a different career, when I'm ready for it. I'm a 23 year old disabled veteran, with a messed up lower back, who can't do much heavy lifting. That local job everyone's always after simply isn't possible for me, as I can't handle the physical labor. My back problem cost me my last job with Roehl, and shot me down before I could even get in the door with a dozen companies.

BUT...I found another OTR gig that I enjoy. And at the end of the day, I realize you can either go through life bitter about everything that you're NOT getting or doing, or you can simply enjoy what you DO have...

well Chris,
my usual spots are:
westley triangle, wheeler ridge petro, button willow T/A and sometimes Harris ranch.

but there always seems to be enough parking for all no matter how late i get there

The one big suggestion I have for you is: if you have a job right now, even a sometimes crappy one, hold on to it. The job market for drivers in the Sacramento area flat out sucks right now. I've been looking for another job for a few months now and haven't got any responses yet. Hell the other day I was debating on if I could take an $11/hour job just to get out of driving but my unemployment pays more than that right now.

Anyone know of any current openings in the Auburn to Sacramento Area?

A little perspective here: Father was a truck driver, grandfather was a driver, it is what I've wanted to do since a tot. Two degrees, graduated in top of my class, had more jobs than most people including as a public school teacher, no grandkids yet but close! Bounced around the job situation for decades but could not find the right fit, health issues but still in great shape (not overweight), finally got my Class A around 97 and drove part & full time between jobs & time off from education.

Yeah, there are serious problems with trucking today but I have to say, I love being behind the wheel. I kinda balances all the other headaches out. Still, within the industry and companies, there is opportunity to move around and try different things. Though tarping was a headache I would still go back to flatbedding if our company moves that way. At some point, I may move into the office but hope to be able to take a load from time to time.

So keep your head up if you love trucking, there is always an opportunity to try another angle of the industry. It may take a while to get seniority or an open position, so put up with the crap until something better comes along. It always does.

My sticky notes read ...I can make $1000.00 off a 14hr job with only 56hr work week ,and that's an unskilled job at a warehouse not even a job at a warehouse using the CDL.

Well if you have a job right now you probably need to hold onto it till this current market works itself out. As long as you wake up every morning to see another day you should be happy about that
