Yeah...all those things I highlighted are true to an extent.

You don't HAVE to spend a crap load of money while out on the road. YOU chose to spend that money.

Yes...You do have to work a "crap load of hours" to make decent money...but then again...You have to do that at any job these days...or in the old days.

Yes..you can kill yourself or someone else with a truck. But then again....the same is true when you are out there driving around in your 4-wheeler! If you use "Safe" driving skills all the time, you greatly reduce those risks.

Yes...this is one of the few jobs in the world where your actions have consequences that are immediate and costly...almost. Of course....Military Officers have a job that have immediate and costly consequences, that can be career ending, if not life ending.

No arguement on the "Truck Stops stink". Of course...they would stink a lot less if a boat load of people had a little respect...for property owners, for fellow drivers...and for themselves. (Note: this was not aimed at you).

Not gonna argue with "Traffic Sucks" either. Traffic has sucked for years. That may be why I enjoy what I do now...versus what I did before. I see a lot less traffic these days, because I see a lot more open road. If you think Sacramento traffic sucks...move to Seattle where traffic sucks worse.

Tarping sucks...no doubt about it...especially when it is 95 degrees or more outside. Then again....tarping is actually great exercise...so go figure.

Cops suck? Only if you do something to attract their attention. I actually enjoy the conversations I get into with most Cops. Then again...I usually only see them at truckstops when they are there to drink coffee and relax a bit.

Sigh. Yeah..winter is here. I guess I will be content to wait out anything that requires my truck to wear "Iron" on the tires. Why...I just went up into the Pacific NW last week....not one DOT officer questioned my not having chains hanging on my truck.

I have fun as often as I can. I'm trying to make up for all those times I didn't have fun. :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Food service is way more work than flat bedding ...In Denver CO places like sysco are always hiring you just need your doubles/tripples and reasonable mvr to get on ,because the turn-over is high...why, because the job sux . it pays well so you know it sux when people quit in less than 90 days . I'd go back OTR before food service .

yeah, sorry for the uncalled rant.
i apologize for knocking the OTR job for those who really like it.

as far as food service goes, i would pick a fast foos chain to drive for like Jack in the Box or In and Out.

yeah, traffic would still suck
tight parking spaces, yeah. but im getting used to that.
the construction site i delivered to the other day was pretty tight and curvy going in. and even worse BACKING out.
as far as AM deliveries go, i dont mind that. almost all of my drops are AM anyway.

i get frustrated sometimes. maybe its being on the road and feeling helpless when im needed at home.
sometimes i do the math on my pay to hours ratio ( i know thats a mistake) and feel like im not really making a good living.
truth is, i really am. i do really well for a first year driver. but it does take alot of hours away from home to get it.

i long for the day i can see a 4 3am-3pm shift paid hourly and home nightly with good health bennies.

i live in sacramento, anyone have any suggestions, i love to hear them
