Default Options to pay for schooling

Okay someone pointed out to me that I could look some other options for help with my training besides being contracted to a company for a year or 2....
One suggestion was WIA.. does anyone know whats all involved? Who do i need to talk to? What information would they need from me? Is it like unemployment? Any and ALL information is welcome

I believe it is through your local state unemployment office. If you go to a community college or state vocational school the cost will be less and financial aide should be available. You could also get an extra job and use all that money to pay for your schooling without any debt. Good luck.

Kahlana: I used WIA to pay for my schooling. Are you currently gettting unemployment? If so, (in my state at least,) you can continue to collect it AND get your schooling paid for by WIA. Go to your local Employment office and ask about it... OR

Google Workforce Investment Act "and" [your state]

Sorry! Had to go do the Christmas dinner thingie with the folks! Won't be around much tomorrow morning either. Gotta go play golf with the Trinity! You know.... the Father, Son and Holy Ghost! Guess you know what part that leaves for ME to play!

I don't know your situation, so I don't know if you qualify for Unemployment Insurance. But, you don't HAVE to be collecting UI to qualify for WIA.

In MY state, they paid for school (about 5 grand) and the school included hotel accomodations.

Funds can be limited at times though, so you might have to wait awhile. Good luck!

ah cool about the not having to neccessarily be on UI to get help... i'm not sure if i qualify or for that or not but no harm in applying for it. Thankfully it's not like i have anything better to do right now except for apply for stuff and wait around... ah the "hurry up and wait" phase of any new undertaking... LOL

Hurry up and wait, mostly wait, when the government is involved.

Goverment grants usually take 6 weeks to get approved. Depending on credit you may be able to get approved for financing and than get tuition reimbursement from the company you get hired on with. That way there is no contract to the company and if you quit driving for them they just stop paying the tuition payments. It wouldn't be a good idea to have more than one job within a year anyway though.

wow been a while since i was on here. being busy working and taking care fo family will do that to a person though. Anyway... im working for Goodwill now and they have a program where i can go to school for my CDL and they will reimburse me if i drive for them. So im waiting on the full information from my Team Leader. If they will pay for my school i will drive locally for them until my daughter graduates and then i will move to an OTR position with them.
