Default Knife question for drivers

I recently talked to a fellow classmate who is heading to Larinburg,NC with Maverick on friday and he told me that are asking him to get a pair of steel toe boots/25' Tape Measure and a pocket knife..

I too am going Flatbed and i wanted to go ahead and buy myself a pocket knife...but i know their has to be a limit on size ...does anyone know of this rule or law and maybe what type would be a good buy...

I figured i might be able to help him out before he lives with this knife question

thank

I have carried a stainless steel 3" "pocket knife" for years....never run into a question from anyone about it...even Canadian Customs people have had no objection to it. Its a folding knife.

I think 3.5 inches for the blade is the "norm" for most states but each state is different. Like what Skywalker said I doubt you would get hasseled with a 3 inch blade length. Most states have a ban on automatics and some have bans on gravity knives. Some have bans for this and some have bans for that, some have bans for this and that and the other, too bad there could not be universal knife laws where states could all be on the same page, that would work for alot of stuff. I carry a small pocket knife with me now, not even a two inch blade, and used to carry a fixed blade with a 2 1/4 inch blade that I could get to and use with my gloves on and could also pry some with it

I have a Leatherman multi-tool, a switchblade I bought in Germany and a Swiss Army knife.

I dont go to Canada, so I dont really worry about it.

Generally, most states allow you to carry no more than a 6 inch knive concealed on your person.
