Locations, desired home time, what do you want to pull, flats, vans, tanker?, Regional, 48, dedicated are some more choices.

We could narrow down your choices tha away.

I'm in southern California, would like Dedicated or Regional. Home time not a problem, more or less is OK. I would like to drop and hook dry freight.

I dont know if the recruiter over here at JB talk to you about this, however since hometime isnt a problem for you, our OTR division does very well out of southern california. That is one of the only places we run the complete 48 states for OTR. So you get a lot more miles. The downside is that instead of being out 14 days at a time, you will more than likely be out 3 weeks at a time.

If you are willing to play with the freight LTL is just about always hiring in SoCal.

LTL can be more demanding in some ways; see some of my posts on LTL vs OTR.

Starting pay is $18-20 hr with most paying OT after 8 & 40. Heck in the Bay area right now Saia starts at somethink like $22-25!

On the Road side pay ranges from 41-53cpm.

I'll earn ~40k this year working 40-45hrs per week. I could easily break 60k if I wanted on a more demanding job assignment.

Check out Rising Phoenix.... I think they run midwest to CA and is no touch freight I believe

Give Crete a call. I believe they'd start you at $.41/mile if not more and they have dedicated/regional (although I don't know about out of Cali.)

Before you try JB Hunt, give CR England a call. I nevered work for them, but have talked to drivers who has done well. I did work for JB a while back...I guess the saying "don't beleive everything you hear" says it all.

Now, I know CRE has received alot of bad posts on this board, and most of the people here are CRE bashers. And most haven't worked for them, either. Just another option.
