Swift Trucking School

Hi,

I am thinking about going through the swift school but what I am trying to find out is this.

What if I complete the swift trucking school obtain my cdl and then decide not to drive for them? Who picks up the trucking school or do they just write it off since they are such a large company? Looking for any and all information of trucking companies that offer their own schools.

Thanks for the replys thus far. Here is another question,

I have noticed that many companies offer to pay your tuition payment after completion of the school but what if you used a company like swift? Would they pick up the tab? Just trying to find out all my options since the pay is not very good with swift. I guess I would prefer to use a company like that because the school is paid and I don't have the cash but would prob. want to jump ship asap!!!

I drive for swift, You are under a 13 month obligation at 37 bucks a week something like that I can't remember lol. But it is a 13 month contract you pay half of 3900.00. Then if you are still there after the 13 months you get the 37 a week back in your check so basically in 26... months your school is paid for. If you leave early you pay the balance of what is left on your schooling. It would be nice if they wrote it off, but it doesn't work that way. Just like any loan you pay or it goes on your credit, and knowing big company's probably will put a judgment on you if you don't finish paying it.

As for another company paying your loan off it is possible, But most of the better company's want a little exp under your belt to move on. More then likely if you left swift right after school, and went somewhere else chances are you are going to be still working for someone that is just like swift.... I would call around.

I don't really have anything bad to say about swift. They did help me get my CDL and I have been with them just shy of a year. The HHG miles are killing me thou...... Best of luck in whatever you choose!

January was a bad time to be working for swift, you would sit on your azz for quite awhile waiting for a Preplan,Its picking up a little bit,not waiting so long for a preplan.

So far other than my azz sitting in Miami for a day and a half, its not too bad, they are a good company imo,its the drivers that make them look bad.But not every trucking company is going to take someone w/o a cdl,get him is license, train him(Mentor)(i actually had a great mentor, but i dont think GOD himself, can help me with my backing issues, only time will).

They should call that HHG system, straight line miles, whoever came up with that software needs to be a driver.Because it aint right.

Guess what,my azz is back in Miami...i wonder how long i'll be here this time.

What you're aking would probably cause you more heartache than it's worth. First, you still have to pay them for school if you bail. Second, any decent company is going to want an explanation as to why you went to Swift's school and then bailed on them. It wouldn't make you look like a standup guy and they may shy away from you. Best to come up with a solid plan and stick it out for however long you need to. No, Swift isn't a great paying gig, but if it's your only option I would suggest playing the game for a year or so and then looking elsewhere, if that's what you decide.

I 2nd what Nevada Jim said. Ideally, pay for school yourself, you'll come out ahead financially unless you then pick a poor paying company like Swift or CRE.
