Default What to do?

Ok i will be finishing my school in 1 week,I have had ALOT of job offers but have heard so much about so many companys. So i am here to get advice. All of what i am typing is hear say i just want more opinions!

Werner i have heard they never get you home, and make you pay for all tolls, and dont pay you for going under 45 mph?The guy told me that they had E-Zpass and said that tolls are payed for by the company?

Swift,i have heard does not have very good home time either, nor do they pay there drivers very well..Starting off cant expect anything big anyway..What is a good starting pay for a school graduate?

Stevens,H.O wolding,TMC,Prime,USA truck,J.B hunt,Wal-Mart, and the list goes on where i have had job offers from...I am not looking to do teams although i know i will have to for the first 6 to 8 weeks depending how well i do in the trainers eyes..I have heard bad things about all the ones i have listed above and more...If anyone knows anything give me some help thanks... Where in South Carolina are you located? First of all, I do not think Wal-Mart will hire inexperienced drivers. If it were me personally I would try to find a small to medium size company to start out with. You might have to do some searching but they are out there. Not sure what you are exactly looking for but you could always try to get on with A.B.F. They are a great company to work for and sometime take on rookie drivers.

ok slammed ... have you talked to CFI .. ? .... their pay if fair, your paid extra each time you have to take a load in the NE area .... and if you have hazmat ... you'll be paid extra for that too each time you pull a hazmat load .... extra pay each time you go into canada ... as well as other ways of make extra money ... I was surprised on my very first pay check I received bonus money .... if your interested call Christine 1-800-641-4748 ext 5718 ... give them a call.

Those 3 you mentioned are 3 of the big CDL school recruiters. There's a whole world of trucking companies out there besides the ones who lurk at the schools. I only am personally familure with the one I went with (May Trucking Co.) but there's a lot out there that you'd be much happier with than those you mentioned, in my openion. Here's a list that is by no means complete, just something to get you started. But do your research.

You said you have a job offer from Wal Mart but you're only a student? How in the world did you pull that off? Or are you mistaken there? That's is a prized position.

Some of these you mentioned.

CFI
CRETE
May Trucking
Interstate Distributors
FFE
Knight Transportation
Ryder

FLATBED Companies
Hunt Transportation
Maverick
TMC

When did WalMart start hiring students? I don't think so. There is no reason for them to hire inexperienced drivers with all the accompanying liability when they have a long list of veteran drivers waiting in line to sign on to them.

Since you have schooling Interstate would take you. I know that Knight requires at least 4 months OTR experience, and I thought Crete required some experience as well?
Whatever your choice, make sure you do alot of research on your choice.
Best of luck to you.

Reading "Wal-Mart" stopped me in my tracks. I am most certain that they will consider only experienced drivers with very good records, but if it IS a bonifide offer.....RUN, don't walk to Wal-Mart as fast as you can  .

Yes wal-mart did do a pre-hire on me,then they told me all i would have to do is go take a drivers test, road test and do i think it was 6 week training with one of there drivers. As far as my driving record i have a perfect record for 11 years 12 years ago i had a wreck and that is all that is on my driving record...They told me the very rarly have students with a driving record like that.

I want to thank everyone for there replys to my post and all the information everyone has post,it has helped me out,i guess i need to just weigh my options and see what is going to be right for me.The good thing is most of all the companys have a good rider policy so i can take my wife with most of them after i complete me 4 to 8 weeks of training.

Does anyone have any information on DriversDailyLog.Com

It says ALOT of trucking companys accept this but i dont know DOT can be funny about alot of things from what i have been told in school. Is this something looking into or should i not waste my time and money on something like this??

Thanks again for everyones help ~Slammed~
