Wondering how much drivers who haul fuel make?
I am wondering how much drivers who haul fuel or other explosive material make. I've heard that truckers who haul dangerous material make a lot more money than truckers who just haul freight.

I will agree with the underpaid part. I know sunoco around where i live have there own fuel trucks and they offer sick leave and pension or 401k and all the other benefits. There is another big outfit BRT and Penn Tank Lines i think they have all good benefits. But i only talked to the sunoco driver. Good Luck.

Hey, let me share a few things about fuel haulers, I just started 3 months ago with a company in SC, I don't make as much money now as I did when I was an OTR driver, but, I'm home every night,I sleep in MY bed, I shower in a clean shower every day, don't have to wear flip-flops in the shower, don't have to put up with all the crap as I did while OTR, we get paid for almost anything out of the normal job, like...,waiting time, after 1 hour we start getting paid,($10 an hour counting the first hour)) if we get to a stop and it won't hold the whole load, we get diverted to another stop,($15)if it takes 2 hoses to reach a tank($7.50)if we have to pump the fuel into a tank,($20), my gross pay last week was $1047.67 and I received a check for another $100, like a bonus, just went today and got me a new pair of boots, cost $120, company pays $85,got free uniforms, shirts only, thats not a one time deal, we get them every year, to me, one of the best moves I could have made. Oh, and the benifits are as good as any I've had before and its not that much out of your pockets, but most fuel companies won't hire you if you don't have at lease 1 year OTR and some want 2. Check out the local companies, talk to some of their drivers, it might be the best thing. God bless,be safe

I haul fuel locally for a major oil company. Our drivers make between 50-60k per year, 401k, good health care (167.00/month for family), 2 weeks vac in first year, all holidays paid, 5 sick days yr, and other benefits. I think we are under paid considering at any moment our life could be over. You are doing mostly city driving with a bomb and people do not respect your space. Cut you off, throw cigarettes in your direction, get as close to your hoses as possible without hitting them or you. It is not a hard job, but you have to be comfortable with the dangers and very confident in your driving ability. Good luck!

I drive for psc out of Houston. hauling hazardous waste. i have drove for 3 years all with them. i make about about 2400-2500 every 2 weeks before taxes. home most every night and off on the weekends. also get 20 a day to eat. so not to bad if you ask me. and i get paid mileage while driving and get paid hourly for all on duty hours including lunch. so just look around the right job is out there for you. but on a side not not all of mine is drop and hook or gets loaded by a forklift. its about 50/50 (takers, rails,no touch, load with drum dolly/pallet jack)
