Here's a couple of quality links.

Montague Folding Bikes - Folding Bike | Folding Bicycle | Travel Bike | Commuter Bicycle
Dahon Folding Bicycles and Folding Bike Accessories | Dahon Global

When I was driving OTR, I got myself the Montague Paratrooper and rode that thing at least 15-30 miles everyday after driving.
Still have it to this day and it's basically my daily transport around town!!

You're just jealous because I can bunnyhop 5" higher than you on my beach cruiser!!

That's cool. I saw the demo video. I've never seen, nor heard of folding bikes. Seems like it would be an easy way to travel. I bet they are proud of them, too.

I was kinda thinking the same thing Roadhog was thinking. I've come close to folding a few bikes when I was younger. :hellno: :p

Here's how well the bike fit into the truck when I was doing OTR.

Yer lucky they didn't notice the alarm clock duct taped to it, with the red and blue wires coming out of the top.

Fortunately...right now... Arizona is just looking for Illegal Aliens.

You should see all the gear attached to the handlebars now!!!

Roadhog 05-14-2010 05:13 AM

How are you rigging stuff?

I have rear side baskets with the clip rack between them, and I mounted a water bottle holder and tire pump on the frame. There is a small tool bag mounted off the back of the seat, with a rubber patch kit and basic repair tools.

It's an old ten speed Schwinn Varsity. I don't have anything on the front bars, except I wrapped the entire bars with water pipe (rubberfoam) insulation. I have to keep moving my hands and body to different positions, and I'll use the entire handlebars in different spots to stay comfortable. :p

I've got a rear-rack with a grocery-bag pannier and a top-rack trunk.
The grocery pannier is for everything while the top trunk carries extra tubes and other repair equipment.
I've also got a 7.2 AmpH 12v hobby battery hooked up to some ORV headlights and a 140dB airhorn from Harbor Freight.
These are all attached via various linkings of velcro straps, used inner-tube, and zip-ties.

All of this weight is transportable thanks to 110 psi street tires.

Roadhog 05-14-2010 05:52 AM

I run 100 psi, and man I really have to avoid any ruts, or I'll be adjusting spokes.
I have a little battery lamp off the front riser, and a red strobe off the back... but I mostly ride in the day, so I never need them.

Here's a nice, recent shot of how fully loaded and equipped it is, with me on it.

Notice the aforementioned headlights and airhorn, the additional equipment includes a deep-cycle wheelchair battery hooked to a stereo box on the rack.

Roadhog 05-15-2010 10:17 PM

The air horn is cool as hell

I'd love to see a bicycle cop chase you down for an equipment check.
Light you up, and get on his PA..."alright pull over!" http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...d10/busted.gif

I went in the other direction with my bike. (everything light weight)
I like to cruise at around 15-20mph on flatland.
It's all backwoods and hills where I'm at.

Most excitement I get is, barely outrunning a dog, and having to growl back and kick in a panic. :pissedoff:

This one dog was a frequent offender, so I started packin' a squirtgun. :D

The above picture was taken down in a park in Culver City, right near the LA neighborhood of Venice.
The riding's relatively flat and non-windy down there, but I deal with high-winds and rolling hills up here in the Victorville area on my daily commute.
As for dogs, they usually run the other way when I dismount.
