My son's first
My oldest son is 14 and like many teens is ready to grow up and drive.
This is his first motor pull. We have a chevy sprint that needs work and a parts car. My husband was showing my son how to tear apart an engine. They needed the tranny and would have liked to get a clutch out of it but it wasn't usable. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...stmotorgut.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...tshardwork.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...ngtogether.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/DSC00366.jpg They are only half way done now. Good old fashion male bonding. |
That is great that they hangout and do things like that! Too many kids have their nose up the computer or TV screens all day and night.
Very refreshing to see, Trukrswyfe. Thanks for sharing. |

That is a good picture! I guess guys can be as self-concious of pictures as women can! He does look like a proud papa!

auto mechanics is one thing that i cannot stand. to me, it's boring. my dad's idea of male bonding was going to an uncontrolled shooting range in the san bernardino mountains. now, that was fun. gutting a computer and installing new parts, motherboards, hard-drives, etc is another form of entertainment for myself. i do that quite a bit when i'm home. it's either that, cruising around scottsdale, going to fry's electronics, going to booby bars, or playing videogames.

My husband does different things with each child. He tries to spend time equally with all of them. He tries really hard, because he didn't know or spend any time with his own dad. My 11 year old son wants to be a pilot so my husband takes him flying and it ain't cheap. My baby the 7 year old is the gamer and my husband plays video games with him.
They all enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, snow skiing, RC flying, and they have all taken trips in the truck with their father. I can't say how blessed I am to have him. I see kids these days all over that don't have a decent male role model. We were at a fishing pond and the boys were fishing and killing them, thanks to Trukr. This little boy all alone was watching us. I asked my husband to help him out. He set his pole up for him, we gave him some of our power bait, and the kid didn't want to leave. It was so sad. |
i see many kids without a male role model as well. i'm all my little brother has. his biological father is a loser, junkie POS, and is probably locked up in prison for something else once again. home time is also spent with him while teaching him how to do all the crap i'm in to. even during excursions on friday or saturday nights, i take him with me regardless of the fact that he's 10 years younger than i. i just don't bring him to the places where one must be 18 or 21 years of age to enter.
auto mechanics is something that i could never get myself into. flying is cool. my uncle has his pilot license. he took me into his cardinal a week before christmas. it's a whole different feeling in the cockpit. i actually came close to becoming air sick. i'm sick of seeing too many parents who don't give a turd. they'd rather get drunk than spend a little time with their kids. then they wonder why their children are so messed up. |

Thats fantastic TW...Great pics, also.
My Dad and I are both motorheads, and always were "tinkering"with cars. My Dad taught me cars at a very young age, when we traveled he would "teach" me the makes and models of cars. At a very young age I was able to remember looking out the window and calling out the make and models. |

At a very young age I was able to remember looking out the window and calling out the make and models. Recently my mom went car shopping to get a more fuel efficent car. She took my 11year old son to get his opinion and car ideas.  She enjoyed the company and he loved taking the car rides in all the sports cars. She thought she wanted a sports car, so she demo'd a lot. She ended up buy the Toyota Prius, because most of the small two seater sports cars still only got about 22 mpg. Now she gets 50mpg and has a back up camera in her dash. Her car is pretty sweet. Back to the kids, We take them to most of the car show in the area. It is hillarious to hear the three boys chatter away about this or that. I am more amused by them and their knowledge of cars then the cars themselves. My youngest son Isaac he is 7 and he has wanted a toy shot gun from a sporting good store. Well he didn't get it so he made his own. It was so funny. I said what is this? He says  It's bolt action mom. duh. He took an old toy gun, put a door lock hinge the bolt that slides and locks in place and taped it to the side of the gun. Now "Bolt Action"   Boys. |

Now "Bolt Action" I turned around ( had my back to him) and said " hun Im ready just need my jacket" Just as quick as I said that. He says " oh. I know your beautiful" I blushed, " You think I'm beautiful?" I tell ya all the way to school and home the rest of the day. I could hear my little man say "your beautiful" The mouth of babes. Makes all those messes and laundry seem much easier to clean. :D |

I was born in 1959, When I was old enough to retain the makes and models of the cars, it was mostly from the 50's and early 60's. By the 70's the cars were still distingushable. 80s the cars quality turned to crap, and by the 90's to present they start to all look alike.
