That horse isn't dead, Fozzy! He was taking a nap, and the owner simply is attempting to wake him up! I'm doing the same thing!

All the best to your son too. God bless him.

Just because violence erupted before, jedfxg, doesn't mean it will happen again. Times and circumstances change, and indeed, we've matured as a nation. Also, with the U.N. and international media, I think the federal government would be very foolish if it attempted to utilize force to thwart the will of the states and people this time around.

Actually, DoctorWho, a Constitutional Convention is driven by the state legislatures, not the citizenry. Obviously, popular support is desired and certainly would help, but it is the state legislatures who are the KEY players in the Convention process.

No, not kidding. In many important respects we have----post Civil War---emphasis on human rights, international diplomacy. We overcame a period of severe turmoil in the 60's with mimimal bloodshed on the homefront. Of course, when you talk about maturity, there are many contexts, social, political, economic. I suppose I meant it more in the political sense. From a social point of view, we still have a way to go as evidenced by Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. :?

Didn't this same nonsense happen when Canadian trucks were allowed to travel U.S. roads some time back. The same "battle cry" was let out.

The rates are going to drop!!! American truckers were going to lose their jobs... Ad Nauseum

Just vision this: One if by I-10!!!
Two if by I-35!!!

Then the galant messenger climbs aboard his Mexican made Navistar and drives off into the night screaming into the microphone of his converted 10 meter radio: "THE MEXICANS ARE COMING, THE MEXICANS ARE COMING!!!!"

While the same issues may have been brought up with the Canadians, there is a huge difference in pay. Canadian drivers are more in line with American driver in pay and benefits. Shippers have already gone on record as saying they will increase their loads to Mexican ports, more so than now, as a direct result in savings that can be realized with Mexican drivers making substantially less cpm.

My main issue with all of this is the fact that we're giving more jobs to foreigners. Most manufacturing jobs are gone, along with jobs such as call centers going over seas. And now we want to let foreigners into the U.S. to take jobs. It sets a bad precedent.

i thought is was voted on and all of the funding was taken away for this program? why are we still bitching about it? manufacturing jobs are going overseas due to the high prices lazy as unions that constantly demand more for less. and i thought the mexicans can bring a load in and get a load and go straight back. why the big deal? does anyone here wanna take a load to mexico? or go to mexicoto get a load and bring back? i know i don't. jersey twicea week is bad enough for me.
