Uber and Arizona

Together they are now using autonomous trucks to move trailers thru the state from the California line to the New Mexico line. Its been successful thus far with no complaints from drivers participating. They simply switch trailers with an autonomous truck and go back the way they just came.

I'm not worried about this taking my job, I unload my own truck!

Exactly, everyone is freaking out. Fact is, still need qualified drivers to do the final miles and backing maneuvers in tight spaces. Or in your case or like the Dollar General accounts, driver has to get it in those godforsaken tiny places then hand unload. No autonomous can do that. But, this is happening and its working thus far with autonomous.

No way I could ride in a truck with that GPS lady driving. I've had to argue enough with that autobot over direction.

"recalculating"
... oh yeah, like doing a U-turn is such a complicated maneuver... :roll3:

Truth is, it's over.

That fatality that happened just ruined self-driving trucks for a long time.

Welllll...........maybe maybe not. That exact situation was posed a few years ago when word came out that work had begun on autonomous vehicles. A reporter posed the following question to Google and Uber, "How will the system react to a human jaywalking or an animal in the road?" No answer was actually given, it seemed neither had thought of that situation at that time. I guess we now know how it will react, exactly how insurance companies tell drivers to react, HIT IT! Don't swerve or attempt to do an emergency stop, drive through it and safely stop afterwards. Honestly, had the monitor been actually driving, the outcome is still the same. The timing was 1.2 seconds from first seeing the person/bicycle until impact. Average human reaction time is just over 2 seconds. While the monitor appeared to not be looking ahead just prior to it, didn't matter, outcome is still the same.

Amazon wants robot delivery vehicles, too. They worked out a cushy deal with the US Post Office, to drive Fed Ex and UPS out of business, so they can corner the market. Amazon is driving so many smaller business broke.

They sell your info. Last time I order something from them, they spammed me bad every day.

Actually Amazon is helping the smaller businesses. When you order, they fulfill it but a smaller company is actually listed as the seller who gets the money in the end. Go look at an item and see at the top of the page, see who is actually selling it........

Amazon is working hard to put Walmart down and are being successful........Walmart is cutting costs everywhere now. Their private fleet is getting pay cuts. Their grocery DC's are becoming outsourced to the cheapest company to haul the freight to the stores. As in, Private Fleet will no longer be running grocery loads is the plan, only GM loads. Plans are in the works to close ALL regular Walmart stores overnight, no more 24 hour stores, no workers inside. They have already closed all Neighborhood Markets overnight and taken the workers out of the stores for 6 hours. Add in the fact they are also cutting staffing as much as possible at the stores.

All times are GMT. The time now is 01:52 AM.
