From Heavy Haul Trucker to Historian

I'm not sure if anyone other than Hog; Hobo; Windwalker and one or two others have ever wondered if I actually graduated.
I did, and then progressed to research degree level
Here is my ugly mush, with archetypal 'British teeth' collecting my MA(Hons) in Scottish History

PS. Hope life is treating you well Gary. God bless you mate
Best wishes

Congratulations on getting your degree, Wot. Now, you can get back to driving a truck.

Thanks GMAN, although I'd like to avoid driving trucks if I can; still, I may have to on part-time basis to pay for my PhD. Currently working for Church of Scotland

There is nothing wrong with driving a truck. Many on this forum have degrees, some have advanced degrees. They decided to pursue trucking when their chosen profession did not work out or they had a dream to drive and took the opportunity to do so when their current career was laying off. It is a good backup plan. I am glad you are working in the Church of Scotland and pursuing your PhD. Is the Church of Scotland affiliated with the Church of England or totally separate? In any case, it will enable you to pursue your education. I hope you will continue to check in with us and keep us updated on how things are going.

Hi Hog,

Good to see you're still as crazy as ever mate :-)

Hi GMAN,

C of S is a Presbyterian church, the C of E is Episcopalian. Charles I tried to force an Episcopal structure onto the Scottish Kirk and that was partly responsible for the civil wars which followed. I actually wrote my undergraduate dissertation on an aspect of the cause of the wars of the three kingdoms; namely the Revocation Act of 1625.

I'm going to keep my HGV licence up to date, just in case I ever do need to drive trucks again; and I must admit, the thought of crossing the Alps one last time in an artic is quite pleasing....who knows, never say never.

I will pop by on the forums now and again, thank you.

Best wishes to all

Kev

GMAN may be right… my back up plan was to be a Rock Star. Of course my Masters was getting my class A CDL. :)
Now... I wish I would have been a historian, too. So much bs out there….history being rewritten the day it's made now. ;)
