One indication of how well freight is doing can be found in truck stops and the number of parking spaces that are available. I was wondering how others are finding the parking situation across the country?

Funny enough; it is random. Joplin is packed at all truck stops; Western, KS one almost empty and two full. Denver was completely full at lunch time.

Total joke in the Mid-Atlantic, get there in the afternoon before 5 it seems. They fill up fast round here. Lot of'em are ending up in the pickle parks or on the ramps of the pickle parks. Then again, this area doesn't have enough truckstops for the sheer volume of trucks running thru. Even during the supposed real slow freight years of recent, the parking round here has been atrocious.

We have a local truck stop that is usually full at night. Lately, it hasn't been anywhere close to being full. In fact, they have had to lay off several employees due to business being slow. I agree that it may be where you are running. The local truck stop is nearly always full at night. But, freight has really been down for several weeks in the area. I was in Virginia a couple of days ago and White's was pretty full, but there were a few spots available. For those not familiar with them, it is now a Petro (exit 205 on I-81).

81 doesn't seem to have slowed very much with trucks running up and down it. I do see a difference in not as many elephant herds out there but it still has a good number of trucks running it.

Only time I've been going by White's has been in the day and so the lot is fairly empty.
