That is indeed a great honor, Fozzy. Where is this sign? I'm unfamiliar with the MM36 terminology.

Interstate I-35, Mile Marker 36. It means it is at the 36th mile in the state you are in after leaving another and in some cases the mile you are at when leaving. When you are on an Interstate and some State Hwy's there are markers every mile to note where you are at. Most, not all of your exits are marked with what mile you are at also. IE., Exit 112 usally means you are at mile 112 and so on. This happens to be in Oklahoma.

Every time I see signs along the road like this, my mind thinks about those close to me.

Just bumped into one of my Dad's best friends, at the grocery store. My Dad passed away mid-80's.
His friend is now 90 yrs. old and maybe one of the last, of the WWII 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers.
We talked about his Division, and the calls have stopped.

Toast to the one's who are gone, and then one for those still alive.
May they never be forgotten.

Fozzy and Bunny! I am sure that your heart is full of pride for Micheal! It is great that the State of Oklahoma has pride in him!! As do we all, who only know of his life and his deeds through you.

You have every right to dust off whatever you want. This is indeed a great honor! I just don't understand why YOU (his parents) weren't informed of it!?

Micheal set out to DO what he was destined to do. He made a difference... and he focused attention! Not only here on CAD... but througout the country! NO ONE drives by these signs without thinking (however briefly in some cases,) about the soldier who gave his life for the cause. I doubt that Micheal cares so much about the sign. But, I hope he would be proud that his fellow troops are home from THAT war, and that he left THAT country better than when he found it!

And FOR his ultimate sacrifice... he has been rewarded... as have those who loved him, knew him, and lost him.

"I" have the additional experience of KNOWING the man, the family, that produced such an American hero. If and when "I" get to drive by that sign... I will KNOW! I will KNOW the history and foundation on which that sign stands... and the REASON for it. And I will do more than HONK. I will also SALUTE. Because he deserves at LEAST that (from a Vet.)

I can't say that I am "so happy for you," Fozzy! How could anyone be happy that you lost your son? But, I am happy that he has been remembered by "others." And, if that finally gives you some peace... then, I am happy for You, too.
