Best smell in all the world

I offer up to you, subject to your approval or dissent, meatloaf when it's getting close to done and about to be pulled.

Anything happening in your kitchen today? Me, I'm heading back out tomorrow and I'm trying to part company with fast food best I can.

And you?

Meatloaf's good but I think brownies have it beat, course choclet chip cookies are great too. Hmmn so's pumkin pie and apple and lets not forget pecan! Damn now I'm hungry AGAIN!

Pork Roast that has simmered in the crock pot here, smell lingers in the house for about 3-4 days. Come home from work, smell pork roast when I walk in and get hungry.

Strikes me as interesting that, since the O.P. suggested a "food" smell... that all other posts were about "food" aromas.

I like food. Pork roast sounds great... although I like a beef roast myself.

But, the BEST smell in the World? Hmm....

I think Hoggie would agree (if he ever got CLOSE to it....) that a "moderate" amount of Channel No. 5... or similar high dollar cologne, on the neck of a beautiful woman who just gave me the "high sign" is a bit more alluring.

But, I would trade that away ANY day... for the smell of Rocky Mtn "mist" in the air after a thunderstorm on the plains (or in the mountains) of "God's Country!"

I guess you had to BE there.

[I reserve the right to change my mind if I think of something better!]

I'll respect your opinion on the neck of a beautiful woman, but after having been around a woman for as many years as I have, I'll pass on all the trouble that goes along with it.

And, from the kitchen, the aroma of a simple loaf of bread has a way of wafting through the air (and the whole house). We bake bread 3 loaves at a time, because the first one is gone (along with nearly a pound of butter) before it's had a chance to cool. The other 2 loaves usually finish out the week.

Amen on the smell of bread baking. And then butter melting faster than you can spread it. Hmmm hmmm.

Now juxtaposition that image with what we drivers see when we stop into McDonalds late in the afternoon for a little caffeine bump. Families!!! There are families "dining" at McDonalds. Once in awhile, sure, but more than once or twice a week is child abuse imho (and judging by the looks of these people they're regulars).

A new born child...

Allow me to second that. Nothing quite like having your newborn baby sleeping soundly on your chest. That wonderful scent you get everytime you look down at the top of your baby's head in wonder, is second to none.

That being said...I love the smell of rain, too, particularly far out away from city life. So thumbs up to Hobo on that one.

Oddly enough, the smell of popcorn when walking into a movie theater is pretty high up on my food list, too. And lets not forget a good steak or even a hamburger that is sizzling on the grill. Grilled cow...mmmmmm...........

I was just reminded about a load of chili peppers I picked up in Irvine, CA, and delivered to Beloit, WI. Then, about a month later, I pulled that same trailer... Opened the doors and it was INSTANT HUNGRY.... Loaded with wood pallets, but the chili smell was still just as strong as the day I delivered the load.
