Truck Dash Cam

I know dash cams for trucks have been discussed here several times, and figured I would share a couple of mine. We decided to invest in a dash cam after our 2nd accident in the truck, both were non preventable on our part. The 2nd accident was more severe and could have been found our fault if the wife didn't have witnesses and the other driver admit fault. Basically the accident made up our minds that we should have an unbiased witness.

I had one hooked to my computer for awhile. It took both still shots every 5 mins or so which were automatically uploaded to photobucket 24hrs later (for my own safety & security). It also, at the same time, ran 10min "dvr" loops, meaning that it had 6 recordings of 10mins each.

The problem was that it was software based and was pushing my laptop too hard - it kept overheating.

The unit I have is self contained, I have it set to 15 min videos.

Not to be nosy, but what kind of money do those go for? Also, can you connect it to a laptop easily or do they use memory sticks?

The Prius/Smart Car vid, I'd be a little peeved with you too for getting over into the left lane and riding for a few miles before finally getting past that truck that was still well out ahead of you when you first moved over. It's very obvious you were hitting a hill as you moved over and weren't gaining much ground at all. At the same time the driver in the Prius should have gone the heck on when he hit the right lane. Instead he creeped up there when he had plenty of room to go on.

Night cam - Why are you running the center lane in the middle of the night when there's no traffic at all? I understand during the day when traffic is jumping on/off the ramps, but at night? Come on...

the one I got was $199 plus SD card, it has a HDMI input/output and mini USB port I believe. The box says it takes up to 64 gig cards, but the 64 gig card we bought didn't work. The 32 gig card does work, and holds about 12 hrs on the highest quality.

how close do you want me to get before I get out to pass? I passed the truck in a responsible timeframe in my opinion. Even if I did take to long does that give the car the right to brake check me?

Akron Ohio on I76 the third lane (right) just got added, I moved over just after this video, but lots of traffic kept blocking me from moving over to the newly added lane.
