What would you say to your younger self?
If you could go back and spend one day with yourself when you were 18, what advice would you give to your younger self? Would you try to warn them of any future mistakes?

Man, I could write a BOOK on this one!
Some things I might not want to talk about here, but this one thing I will. When I joined the A.F. at 19, they buttonholed me and sold me a whole-life policy from NY LIfe. Cost me $20 a month and IIRC, the premiums would never increase! I'm 54 now, and at age 65 (if still alive) I could withdraw the cash value accrued at that time of.... $650,000!!!! |
Wait for the right one to marry!

For most guys that is a once in a lifetime opportunity don't f it up... and I did... timberwolf |
I would have tried to convince my younger self to go for military service. The training, the experience and the discipline of military life and the opportunity to serve my country and be part of something greater. I have always regretted not doing that! I'm 39 now and it's too late. I would have liked to join the Navy or the Marine Corps (and that's pronounced "core", not "corpse", President Obama)

In all sincerity I should have done the same, My dad was a lifer in the Army after his stint in the Navy and the GI Bill that put him through school He Retired as a Colonel in 75. When i was 17 he began to tell me to go to school and get a basic degree in business commision in the Amy and do 20 years or more if I like, I told him no way after a life of watching him come and go and kiss ass I would never be able to do the same, yet that is what I ended up doing picking a career that required me to kiss ass to move up the ladder which I failed miserably at. Should have listened to the old man I would be 25 years in the service now and ready to collect a decent pension.. Oh Well, life is still good. Timberwolf |
I would slip myself a note that said ("When you are in the EFHutton office in downtown Longbeach in 1986, listen to the guy to your right...and buy the Microsoft stock he wants you to put your $85 Grand into. Punch that loser in front of you for giving crappy advise!")
or maybe a note that says ("Go to MSU in Bozeman. Don't stay on the ranch. Go to school, become a Veterinarian.") Something like that.................maybe. |
