`Diff'rent Strokes' star Gary Coleman dies - Yahoo! News

I hate to hear that. I used to watch Diff'rent Strokes when I was a kid. He was funny. Sure will be missed. :(

I could not help but feel sorry for Gary Coleman. He had a very difficult life.

Paul Harvey once did a story on him. As a child, he had a kidney transplant, and went around picking up bottles and cans for recycling in order to pay his parents back for the expense. I don't remember the dollar figure, but Harvey said he paid back every cent.

Didn't hear a lot about him after Different Strokes went off the air, but I do remember the show. I never understood why someone so talented never appeared in anything else (that I can remember).

I seem to recall that he became difficult during the end on Different Strokes. I think that it was his reputation for being hard to manage that kept him out of show business. I initially expected him to get into movies or perhaps another series. He was very talented. I recall him having some problems with his parents managing his money. In fact, I believe that he took them to court to gain control over his money and career. After the show he was broke, as I recall.
