Aaah, Civilian Life
 

In November of ’02, I joined CAD. A week later, Jeff asked me to be a moderator and I’ve been doing it ever since.

Well, the time has come to hand in my moderator badge and the keys to the executive washroom. This is not about time (though I still have precious little of it) – this is really about not having any desire to be a moderator anymore. I’ve given a lot to this site and lately have been giving it a lot of thought. I just do not have any drive to do this job anymore.

While there are several different reasons (some not even board related) leading to my decision, the biggest is simply that I truly am tired of moderating and have no desire to do it anymore – doesn’t matter who the owners of the board are or what the circumstances are. I’ve just finally grown weary of everything that it entails and I’m too tired of it to care anymore. And that’s not fair to the board or any of you.

I’ve donated almost 8 years of my time moderating this specific board and probably close to 20 years moderating going all the way back to dial-up BBS’s on subjects like games, religion, sports, etc. It’s time to retire from being head babysitter. :p I have no intention of moderating a messageboard – ANY messageboard – ever again. I’m ready to be the occasional part-time poster on the occasional messageboard, killing a few spare minutes here or there if I feel like it and not because I have to.

So, I’m not gone from CAD. I’ll still be around occasionally, no more or less than I am today, I suppose. I’ll still bump heads with Hobo most likely, but that’s to be expected since we are from parallel universes...at least until I convince him that I'm right and that I've always been right. About everything. :D

But I have left the Moose Lodge (already made the status change and tossed my keys in the river) and am residing in a quiet little cottage well away from the hubbub of CAD control. Hog is on his way over now with a guitar, a 6 pack of YooHoo, and 3 bow hunting goddesses. Hobo is due a little later with a bucket of fried chicken.

Life is good.

Have you been moderating this whole time?? I thought you already quit.?. I thought you quit moderating when you got that promotion at work (or something happened at work?..).

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. Another moderator perhaps. Ya know, we have a lot of them around here..

Twilight, I don't believe you can say that you've been a "friend" to everyone on CAD.
There have been a few individuals that would not likely give you that title.
But, you CAN say that you've had an influence on everyone on CAD.
Thanks for the time you've given to the site, and the many contributions.

Twilight Flyer has contributed much to this site, more than most realize. The door is still open if you change your mind. :thumbsup:

Well Bat Dude it's looking like the original threesome is fading away!!! First the Blue Beetle guy now you!!! Don't want to leave out Heaven Bound!!!

Tis a shame the Marx Brothers screen names didn't last very long that did make for some interesting conversation... Plus, it was fun bantering back and forth especially with the "War Between The States" topic, it did get Beetle guy a bit edgy at times!!!!

Well, enjoy the well deserved R&R and maybe, just maybe I'll try to work in a trip to Iowa and we can chase a TORNADO or two!!!!

Chasing a couple of tornados would be fun. You know, that's what my son wants to do? He is a senior next year and wants to get in some field work chasing storms for a few years before he gets into a lab somewhere. I might have to join him. :)

Chasing a tornado would be like tracking a mountain lion. You start out tracking the mountain lion. Next thing you know the critter back tracks and is now tracking you. :eek2:

I've seen enough funnel clouds, and the effects of them. I've dodged them, danced with them, and taken cover from them. It won't hurt my feelings if I don't see another one. I've had enough things flying over my head for this lifetime. But, if you like the "adrenaline rush" it's likely to give you, go for it.
