In its 6-5 ruling, the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals said the world's largest private employer will have to face charges that it pays women less than men for the same jobs and that female employees receive fewer promotions and have to wait longer for those promotions than male counterparts.
The retailer has fiercely fought the lawsuit since it was first filed by six women in federal court in San Francisco in 2001 and said it would appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Courthttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif.

I doubt it.

1.) they have good layers
2.) they are constantly giving themselves black eyes over stuff like equil opertunity and workmans comp, etc

Yes, they do have good lawyers. Their lead counsel in this case is probably one of the best attorneys in the United States, Theodore J. Boutrous. Mr. Boutrous is incredibly well respected. He's also very, very good at what he does and his specialty is appellant law.

He's the lead counsel in the case to have Proposition 8 overturned in Federal Court, he was the attorney who had the Supreme Court overturn a $290 million award against Ford Motor Company, he was also the lead counsel for the Wall Street Journal and persuaded a Federal Court to overturn the largest libel award in history.

He persuaded the Michigan Supreme Court to overturn the largest Sexual Harassment Suit in History.

He works for Gibson Dunn and Crutcher, one of the most prestigious Law Firms in the United States, and he is one of the attorneys who most aspiring lawyers wish to emulate. If this can be overturned at the Supreme Court, Boutrous is probably the guy who can get it done.

don't get me wrong, I'd love to see something stick with wal mart but since I used to work for them over 10 years ago, and seen first hand what they get away with, I have a hard time beleaving it'll change this go round

I think it's a bunch of bull. I've been hearing about it on the news. Sounds like it's just a few women that are complaining. It's not like half the population or anything. :p

Take it from someone that Worked for Wal-mart. You make waves in that company YOUR GONE faster than a Black Friday SPECIAL. They will find anything to get rid of you. Put it to you this way my doctor forgot to mark one box on a FMLA form. I was escorted out of the Building by 2 Managers and told I was fired.

Well then IE, that means they are by the book which is a good thing, means they can't get in trouble if they rule by the book and don't stray from that.

This does sound like a BS lawsuit, anyone could claim the same crap anywhere. Wal-Mart is just a big juicy target compared to others. So they pay women lower than men for the same job, what is it that they are doing? If it's something like stocking and the men get it done faster than the women or can do the job while the women can't then they should get higher pay and promotions sooner. This would be like having women at Lowes who can't help put Quickrete bags on the shelf but expect to be paid for doing just that the same as the men who are actually doing it and doing it efficiently. If you can't do the job you shouldn't be paid the same as someone who can.

Well I have a couple old co workers that are at the store I was at. One is Female has been there 12 Years is a Dept Manager and makes 12.50 an hour. The other is Male works as a Sales Associate has been there 6 years he makes 14 bucks an hour he is also UNDER the DM I Mentioned.

My wifes Brother started at Wally-World less than a year ago he was recently promoted over 12 women that had been there longer than him to Dept Manager for a section of the Store he had Never even worked in. He is a Trained Chef yet they want him to run the Craft Section. He was a Deli Lead prior to this. I also saw it when I worked there. Male Managers would harrass the females workers all the time. Heck it took one of them getting another worer Pregnant BEFORE Corprate finally did anything about it.
