I found this VERY interesting WW. There is a fault line right TRHOUGH Iceland, and some of the other areas that have been active lately. I GOOGLED "fault lines" and a world map popped up. Very informative site. I thought it was interesting that when I googled it, it brought up mostly oklahoma fault lines. I just think it's funny we are such a "hotbed" for this, well......it's funny NOW.

I'd be even more interested in just why the activity has been increasing in recent years. Is that why the Mayan Calender stops in 2012? The activity will reach it's peak and wipe out the world we know?:eek1::roll3:
Not too worry....nobody is going to turn out the lights. |

I haven't said anything about a "spike", but looking back to 1950, and bringing up the data to the present, the number of earthquakes each year has been increasing. I think it was 1993, there were only 4 earthquakes listed for the whole year. In the last two years, (2008 and 2009) the list of earthquakes around the world was as long as your arm. More than in any previous year. I had not even thought about volcanic eruptions. |
As of today, Taiwan has just has a 6.5.
