Some folks already don't pay taxes but it's because of their religion they are allowed to forgo paying taxes by the IRS. I doubt they get 50K the show, you would need most of the country to show to do any good and even then it's doubtful anything would change.

Yeah, but it's got to start somewhere. It certainly is not going to start with Obama.

Personally, I think they should do away with the income tax system and just do a flat federal sales tax on every purchaase other than food or medicine.

Yeah and the country would shrink to a size of a peanut.

All you hardcore ,,conservatives'' dream about NO TAXES but when anyone mentions cutting military budget. everyone gets bent out of shape.

If you want the best military, best interstate system in the world, best infrastructure, you have to pay up.

He didn't say NO taxes, he said "income" tax. There is a difference. Take a look at the"Fair Tax" plan and let me know what you think. ;)

As I said. Get rid of the loopholes. I mean, really get rid of them, instead of "lip service". Someone making $3 million/year only has to pay taxes on $100 thousand of it. But, we don't get that kind of break. Is that fair?

Malaki86 02-26-2010 02:27 PM

That's where the flat sales tax comes into play. If you make more money, you spend more money. The more you spend, the more your taxes are. Plain and simple. It's 100% fair across all levels of income.

Based on what you spend?????:eek2::eek1:
That's no better than the loopholes they have now.

Take a good look at what I said.
Someone can make $3 million in one year, but pay taxes on $100 thousand.
I can live quite well on $50,000 a year. Now, do the math.

$3,000,000
- $50,000
_______________
$2,950,000

Sorry, but if you think that's fair, have at it, but don't expect me to back you on it. That means someone can make $3 million a year and only have to pay taxes on $50 thousand of it. That's even worse than what we've got now.

I know a guy that makes a very good income every year. He and his wife take trips to Vegas every year. When their daughter got married, he bought her a brand new house and paid cash. Then, said that was just basically "petty cash". He's got a few million in the bank. By living within about $50,000 a year, that's all he has to pay taxes on??? The millions he stuffs into the bank is "tax free"????? That's a bigger loophole than they have now.:eek1:

Every society must pay taxes in order to fund or support their government. I am not sure that we even need an income tax. We need to eliminate most of the government we have and by doing so we would need much less tax revenue to support it. We supported our country until about a century ago primarily through excise tax and property taxes. I see no reason why we cannot do the same thing now. It would eliminate the need for the IRS which would be a significant reduction in our cost of running the government. Many other departments could be eliminated and that would put more people into the private sector who could pay taxes, should we continue to stick with an income tax. If we are to have an income tax it would be much better and more fair to have a flat rate for everyone. No deductions, just a flat rate on your gross income. The rate would be the same for everyone. 5% sounds about right to me.

We could get rid of those thousands of pages of tax code. There would be no need to print all the forms we currently use to file our taxes and comply with the tax laws. It would save trees (for our green friends) and save billions of dollars in printing costs. We would not even need to file an income tax. Just send them a check when you get paid. Since there would be no deductions there would be no need to file a tax return at the end of the year. It would save billions in postage costs. It would save billions in legal and accounting costs. Thousands of lawyers would be put out of business since there would be no need to write new tax code.
