Well tis I ... 4roses ... I've been away for a while, but have never lost my love for the hwy. I'd like to get the opinion of a few friends around here ... I've already spoke to a couple of you but would like to get some more imput.

Does it seem that the loads are starting to pick up since the big slow down this past year? .. I know this time of years it generally does pick up some but after watching Arrow close up ( acourse Arrow had their personal fingers to deep in the pot too ) ...and a few other company's getting into trouble ... I have to wonder. .............. A good friend of mine has asked me if I'd be interested in teaming with her with an expedite company...... Since I got off the road last I've been working at a hospital in medical records ........ boring !!!!! but yet - - - a steady check !

Do you see business picking up ?

I was wondering what happened to you.

My wife and I moved to expediting and from July to December it was very good. January was disastrous. February has been somewhat better.

Expediting is a different animal from "regular" trucking. I'll give you some more info, if you want.

If you think about it, to talk about loads picking up now does not in any way mean loads are close to what they were a few years ago. When 108,000 drivers lost their jobs in one year, the freight their companies were hauling is part of what kept the rest of the companies in business, and even a few of them are in financial straights. To see freight picking up now is certainly a good thing, but it has a very long way to go before it gets close to what it was a few years ago.

The company I was with, saw freight pick up a little last fall. All last summer, I was working every other week. I was lumping my loads for the lumper fees to make up the difference. (I should have retired back then) Then, in fall, it went back to running every week. But, the companies that have gone out of business, are not back in business yet.

Are you planning on hanging around this board for a while this time?

Windwalker wuzzzzzup ..... I've always checked in from time to time to see who's still here. And it appears all the old faithfulls are still kicking .... lol thank you for your opinions. If you think of anything please continue to let me know .... I'm keeping my opinions open right now. I too wish that I could retire but I cant seem to find anyone that wants to adopt me and pay my bills for 1-2 yrs till all the paperwork goes through. :( I'll probably work till I take my last breath. :)

Took me less than 30 days to get it through. Depends on your age. Old enough to retire, put in your application. (Wish I had done that a year ago) Of course, when you've still got a few years to go before retirement age, the adoption would, perhaps, be the best alternative.:D;):thumbsup:
