The age of the internet.

I was going through the member list. Don't know why. Just was. Bored I guess, I don't know. Don't ask. :p

Here is something I came across. Like I said, I don't know why, but I noticed that this member logged onto CAD long before I was born. In fact, it was a good year. So, how long has the CAD been around? How long has the internet been around? Has it been around for a long time, and then about 10-12 years ago, it got popular?? I am just curious. I know there are a lot of things that were made before my time, but I didn't realize the internet, and CAD has been around that long.

The internet is nothing but a passing fad. I heard the owners have decided to sell it before its totally worthless.

This guys join date was 06, but his last activity was 1970?

Gotta be a foo-foo.

If you want to know when the internet was invented, ask Al Gore.

Or Steve Booth

I can remember back when we had a choke and a pull starter on our computers. They were a bitche to start in the winter, and always leaked oil.

Jakerabbit,
The Internet was around before both of us were even born;1969

I still remember when my family first got the Internet. 14.4 was the rage back then. As long as no one used the phone, you were safe.

As far as CAD, not sure of the date but I know I have been a member for a long time, just forgot my original user name and resigned with this one.

First computer:
TRS-80 from Radio Shack. Learned how do to BASIC on it. Was a wize at BASIC programming. Made all the other 4Th graders in my school jealous.

14.4k baud? that was fast. My first modem was 300 baud that you put the handset into - exactly like the one they used in the movie War Games.

When war games came out I didn't even know what a home computer was.

I didn't even know what Windows looked like till we got our first HP in 1994. You should have seen me trying to put one of those big floppy disks into the 3.5 disk drive:lol:. And the mouse, what was that for?

Before that our computer ran on DOS and the computers in both my grade school and high school were Macs.

Keep in mind I was born in 1974, so when I hit 19, the Internet was just starting to really explode into homes. I was the first of all my friends to get it.:D Use to have "Internet Parties" when my parents went away for the weekends.

I got my first computer when i was 12. it was a radio shack color computer with 4k (yes, 4,096 bytes) of memory. it hooked to the tv and used an audio cassette to store the programs on.

i ran a multi-line BBS for years also, using either DOS or Desqview. Now - how many people know what a BBS or Desqview is?
