Next door to me there is a order picker for a large Foodservice carrier. They are union and the Union said the Company needed them to agree to take a wage freeze however the Union was going to increase the Dues that they are taking. He told the Union Steward for his Local IBT btw that He was going to vote NO why because if Hoffa Jr and his Union Lackeys at the IBT Headquarters can not take a cut in pay why SHOULD THE RANK AND FILE HAVE TO. He has been a Teamster for 30 years.

Usually union dues are figured as a percentage of hourly rate, so I would be skeptical of that claim. I have no problem with paying union dues, since being a union member provides me with superior wages, health, vision and dental coverage, and also enables me to be eligible for a union pension at retirement (provided I get enough years of union work in).

He's getting the opportunity to vote yes or no due to the fact that he's represented by the union. If he was a non union employee the company would have already instituted the aforementioned wage freeze and he would have to either accept it or quit and find a different job.
