Misguided students and the Sierra Club

The Associated Press: College students protest coal use on campuses

Personally, anyone wanting to have anything to do with the Sierra Club should be hit with one.
All about preserving nature for people with money.

Just thought I'd post this to show everyone why I continually think most school's are a joke.

Instead of going to certain places to learn, most people my age and younger always to be involved in some sort of 1/2 hearted activism.

Whatever happened to learning a trade, or some skill for gainful employment, then whining about everything else later?
All these classes required for certain sections of general ed for everyone don't seem to be helping matters either.

Cleaner burning "WOOD CHIPS"??? Don't they know that wood chips are simply coal "in the raw"??? They say that all the global warming is caused by carbon dioxide. ANYTHING YOU BURN THAT CONTAINS CARBON will give off carbon dioxide. It doesn't matter. Coal, oil, propane, natural gas, alcohol... All contain carbon compounds, and all give off carbon dioxide.

Even those "certified clean idle" engines give off carbon dioxide. The only way to get away from that is to go to hydrogen. What else is there in any quantity that doesn't give off carbon dioxide???

Are they going to school to get smarter or show how stupid they are???

I want a nuclear reactor in my truck just so I don't have to stop and fuel up for a couple of years.

Better yet - give me a Mr. Reactor & a Flux Capacitor so that once I hit 88mph (ya, I know, I have to be going downhill to hit that massive speed) the truck will go through time and I might be able to meet the asinine delivery schedules our dispatch thinks can be done.

I think modern day college is designed for young people who want to be cool, I never was cool, so that's why I never liked it.
In this case, blindly following causes that will change things that don't need to be fixed is "cool".

@malaki86

That's what I'm talking about.

Ok. How about a few of you join with me... Start up another university... One that's completely different than all the rest. The only thing we teach is COMMON SENSE... Huh??? How about it???

Yip, we could get national and regional accreditation status and make it so that the courses that are taught are actual things that could be applied towards an actual career.
Applied math, science and English as opposed to all these classes that really stress no everyday use of a particular subject aside from winning Final Jeopardy.

Unfortunately, common sense can't be taught.

I'm afraid they've been doing that for a number of years now. I went through "MATH FOR ELECTRONICS" years ago. After that, I stopped using arithmetic and use that for everything... Including my log book.:lol2:

I don't know that I agree with that. We are, far more, products of our environment. We are not born with it. People that work mostly with practicle applications seem to have more of it. Lawyers have very little of it.
