Two Weeks Notice

kind of a double edge sword there....on one hand they might ding you if you dont give notice on the other hand a lot of palces are pretty darn bad about kicking you to the curb right on spot if you turn in a notice so you might end up jobless for a few days earlier than you intended.

It will most likely show up on your DAC as "Subject to rehire upon review"

Yet on you employment verification request it shows as "resigned without notice"

Best to suffer those last 2 weeks to make things look good :)

It is always better to give the two weeks notice in writing. You certainly dont want to be one of those truckstop tough guys who leave the truck at a truckstop and calls your dispatcher and tells him to stick it. It does make a good coffee counter story though. "I left their truck at the truckstop and told my dispatcher he could kiss my ass", Till you cant get a new job.

Providing you don't leave the truck somewhere (truck stop, home, other terminal, etc) that they have to spend time and money by having another driver come pick it up, the worst they can legally put down 'quit without notice' and that's usually no problem.

If you are under load when you quit, though, you'll get hit with a 'quit under dispatch' and that's right up there with abandonments on throwing up red flags to a new company.

It's always best to put in 2 weeks and serve it out. But if you can't, make sure that you are not under load when you quit and you take that truck back to the terminal that they want you to take it. In addition, make certain that you get IN WRITING, a statement stating that you did exactly what they wanted you to do. Barring that, at least get it on the qualcomm and take a picture of it so that it is readable.
