Beaverton truck driver with swine flu dies in Illinois
By Stover E Harger III The Beaverton Valley Times, Aug 24, 2009, Updated 6.5 hours ago A 45-year-old Beaverton truck driver died last week in Maryville, Ill., after contracting the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu. Derrick Keel had traveled across several states (they were not identified) before checking himself into the Anderson Hospital on Aug. 16, according to Stephen Nonn, coroner for Madison County, Ill. Keel complained about a fever, shortness of breath and a non-productive cough he had been experiencing for several days. During his hospitalization, the coroner reported, Keel’s health deteriorated and he died while in intensive care on Aug. 19. An autopsy on the Landstar System truck driver showed that he had bilateral pneumonia and the presence of the H1N1 virus. As of Aug. 21, there have been 7,983 hospitalizations and 522 deaths of people with H1N1 across the country, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In a presentation at the “Pandemic H1N1 Influenza Preparedness Summit” in Salem on Aug. 21, State Epidemiologist Katrina Hedberg said there have been 92 hospitalizations and 11 deaths related to swine flu in Oregon. This summer the state had more hospitalizations of people with H1N1 than expected. For more information on H1N1 and other forms of influenza, visit |
+1!
I was at a plant last thursday, where you had to clean your hands with a provided anti-septic, before the guard would allow you thru the door!! I am seeing hand cleaner placed at more an more facilities, and also seeing more and more cleaning staffs returned to their jobs. |
Sounds like he waited, can't wait with this swine flu. You feel like your coming down sick, you have to get medical attention ASAP even if it does turn out to just be a normal cold. That cold can easily turn into swine flu.

Keep your hands clean, cough, sneeze into your arm if not a tissue, and keep your hands away from your face ! |
That's right. If you feel like you have 'flu-like' symptons, and a fever, you better haul it to the ER, or something. :hellno:

my youngest was born at that hospital.
isn't everyone taught to wash hands after using the bathroom:confused: |
Colt, I don't think you got my point. What you may think is just a cold could turn out to be the swine flu.

Found out today that my great aunt has the oink oink flu. She works in our office and hasn't been in since the middle of last week. Everyone at work is freaking out now afraid they might suddenly come down with it if she comes back too soon.
