can you tell the difference from 1,000 rps and 1,300 rpm just by listening???????? what is there preset rpm's??????? i know mine is 1,000 :smokin:

I dont know what THEIR preset rpms are but yours is not 1,000. It is 1,001.99 rpms. Get the car keys out of your ears.

I can tell the difference between a fast idle, a slow idle and an engine running at full speed. apparently, you dont understand the question, so you are not one of the ones who does it, so the question was not directed at you

I don't park in truck stops often, but when I back into a spot and that happens (or if a truck backs into the spot next to me and he's got that problem) I will move to another spot or even leave and find some place else to park.

According to the CAT manual that came with my 2003 C15, extended idle is strongly discouraged, but if you MUST idle for longer than five minutes, CAT strongly recommends bumping the idle up to a minimum of 1000 rpm to guard against "engine slobber."

****gasp****

Say it aint so!

On behalf of all of those "highly" trained Swifty wonder wheel holders tearing the hoods off trucks everywhere . . Wecome back! Your warmth, charm and good cheer have been sorely missed. This is indeed a fine day.

I was tearing off hoods in WI, IL, IN and OH, yesterday. Too bad you don't run that far east.

As to the topic . . anybody have a link to "How to disable an APU"?

And why the f#+K are you doing it when it's 65 degrees out?

Amen! That's perfect sleeping weather. Some people have no sense of place or time. It's 74 in Hagerstown, right now, and I can hear one running . . 2 or 3 trucks away, fortunately.

Now we should know the rest of that drivers story. Maybe they have a pet rattlesnake that they are trying to keep alive at 120 degrees or maybe they dont want their container of Cherry Garcia to melt so they NEED to keep the cab at 20 degrees so they can have their snack after the buffet.

I was thinking along the lines of something a little more covert . . and permanent. But thanks, it was a step in the right direction.
