Because sometimes 30 is just too fast.

Malaki86 08-09-2009 07:19 PM

And 25 is just too slow

So, what about this one? If you look closely at the sign you can see how they just covered up the 0 with a 1!

golfhobo 08-09-2009 11:30 PM

Hey! Nobody ASKED you guys! He asked ME! :lol2:

Here's the real poop! This is one of thousands of signs put up (at huge expense to the people of Alaska) by their "Maverick" governor! It shows how "different" things (like physics) are up there in Alaska, and shows their independence from ANY type of government control of their lives! THIS is "change we can believe in.... Alaskyan style! WINK!" [That's not a typo.]

BTW... there is currently an investigation by the evil "main stream media" into just WHO is benefiting from the contract. MY bet is on Palin! ;)

My FIRST thought was akin to that of Jumbo. Given the fact that it is a curve at the apex of a hill, and extensive "government funded" studies might have determined that 1 more mph could launch a vehicle over the edge, it could make sense - EXCEPT.... that IF it were such a dire situation, the sign would have been YELLOW! ;) [Unless, of course, Palin decided that was too much government control over her sign making!]

No.... I'm pretty sure that is a product of her SINGLE accomplishment as the Maverick governor of Alaska! It's HER idea of how Alaskyans are "independent" from the rest of America, and SMARTER too! [Since they can see Russia from their HOUSE!] :hellno:

If you want to continue to live in HER "country," you will have to learn to think outside the box! I'm SURE she has many other surprises for you. ;)

BTW... how soon before you start getting your State "welfare check" from the oil industry.... that the REST of America is paying for??

belpre122 08-10-2009 04:05 AM

Heh heh....thanks Hobo! LOL I have the privilege this time of turning over the keyboard to my lady, Rhonda. She had the privilege (as many of us have) of enjoying a Golfhobo babble. Thus.......with that said......I joyfully turn over the keyboard to her! (I'll sign her up for her own user name later):lol::moon:

Rhonda speak to Golfhobo:

I'll start by explaining the speed limit sign- those are on private property at the Alyeska Marine Terminal. The oil industry (not the federal government) paid big bucks for the study that determined that by having unusual numbers for the speed limit it kept people paying attention to their speed. Got your attention didn't it ? :) The union sign painters surely supported it.

Now don't even start on my former governor. And that would be Governor Palin to you- not Sarah. You have to live here to call her by her first name. I'm willing to bet Sarah can out shoot, out hunt and out ride your Governor any day of the week quite simply because Alaska Girls Kick Ass!!!

As far as my welfare check- you don't have it quite right. Sarah also gave us an addtional $1,300 dollars per household (on top of the permanent fund check) to help us pay for the rising fuel prices. So what has your Governor done for you lately??? Any checks for about $3,000 to each of you?? Oh did I mention that the town I live in also gave each person a $500 fuel credit to help out this past winter? All of it comes from taxes from oil revenues paid to our state, from oil companies, to provide all you folks that live outside with Alaska North Slope Crude to refine.

So would you like us to send you a 6 pack of Alaskan Amber to *legally* consume while in the sleeper of a CMV? :moon:
Much love from the North! Rhonda

Well,
my 4th Great Grandfather is Colonel John Seward Jr, he is the uncle to William who we all know purchased Alyskea for 7.2 million and was laughed at for it. Hmmm... seems to me it turned out to be a good buy.

Hey Blepre maybe you could ask Sara to funnel some of that cash my way, seeing as how she would have never been the great maverick she is, if it had not been for my 4th great nephew's intuition into buying her homeland from those pesky russians...

Just a thought any little bit would help fund the weekend Coors Light budget...

Thanks.

X2!!!

Actually, I think she would STILL be a Maverick.... in some "unremarkable" corner of the Earth. But, the point is.... she wouldn't have HAD all that "oil dividend" money to spread around to boost her career if the taxpayers of the lower 48 hadn't PAID for the land under which the oil exists. The inhabitants of Alaskya at the time certainly didn't pony up for it! I'm not sure, but isn't the north slope part of the Bureau of Land Management? i.e: American taxpayer owned territory? So.... why are WE not sharing in the dividends?

I'm still looking into this. I think someone owes me enough for more than just a weekend beer budget!

Lucky for US.... down here we elect our Governor's to G-O-V-E-R-N! We don't really CARE how many wolves they can shoot from a helicopter! But, we DO ask that they can put two sentences together and form a coherent thought. Charlotte, NC is the 2nd (or 3rd) largest BANKING center in the U.S. OUR Governor has to host top financial players from around the world... not just claim that they can see the lights across the "bay."

Nope. And I'm looking into whether such distribution of funds are legal. But, I DO know, he/she hasn't made us a "welfare state" dependent on dividends from an industry that rapes the common American with high gas prices! :moon:

Ok- here's where I get to be a good Alaskan and educate the misinformed masses the live Outside (Outside meaning anywhere on the planet other that the State of Alaska). Aerial hunting is banned in Alaska with only one exception. The exception is for predator management by game officials. No private citizen can aerial hunt. So forgive us for using the most cost effective manner to manage our game. As a matter of law you can not hunt on a fly in until 3am the following day. The fines are high and the rules strictly enforced.
Personally I would not be bragging about anyone involved in the banking industy considering the recent financial debacles happening Outside. For the record-Alaska has the second lowest forclosure rate in the Nation. Not bad for a group with a Governor that you avow cannot put two sentences together. Our unemployment rate is also around only 8%- NC is around 12%. If I'm not careful here my houseboy will end up working full time because people keep offering him jobs that he hasn't even applied for. Having said all that since my State seems to be doing just fine while the rest of the country tanks- I'll stick with Caribou Barbie and her abilities to hunt, fish and ride. :roll3:

Speaking again of educating people- The North Slope is owned by the State of Alaska and several regional Native Corporations. It is NOT BLM land, or any other Federal Agency for that matter. Check out the Department of Oil and Gas for the State of Alaska webpage for a map that shows who has rights/land ownership to what fields.

I don't know.... maybe, kept the cost of LIVING down here within reason?

Well at least we aren't overrun with McMansions here:clap:

Nope. And I'm looking into whether such distribution of funds are legal. But, I DO know, he/she hasn't made us a "welfare state" dependent on dividends from an industry that rapes the common American with high gas prices! :moon:
Oh yes it is legal. For detailed information google "Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation" Therein lies all the pertinant (and correct) information on our funds. Really not my problem that your State chooses to keep all of the revenue from your non-renewable resources in the state coffers instead of distibuting it to the residents. Keep in mind that while Alaskans supply approximately 1/4 of the nations crude oil, it all goes to the West Coast- so if anyone is getting screwed it's primarily the Californians.

So, you ARE a "welfare state?"

Nope- not by any stretch of the uninformed imagination.

Found under land that "WE" paid for? And.... with all that "extra" money, you STILL needed Federal funds to build a bridge to NOWHERE? :hellno:

Think for a minute here- if you need a bridge to get there, and it doesn't exist- then aren't most bridges, bridges to nowhere until built. Then infrastucture developes and it becomes a bridge to "somewhere":block:

Hmm..... TEMPTING! But, it probably tastes like moose pizz! I'll stick with my Silver Bullets brewed with American Rocky Mtn spring water!

It's yummy ! The beer that is-

Much love returned! You guys got a spare bedroom? I'll be bringing RebelDarlin with me!

If you want her you can bring her up for YOU!!

One last little thought for you here- you should really appreciate all that Alaskans import from you guys outside. We have more private pilot license, per capita, so therefor the planes are an import- cause we don't build them here. We eat more ice cream, per capita, and there are very few dairies here so some dairy farmers are lovin' us. But most importantly this State keeps a whole lot of trucks on the road bringing stuff to us welfare recipients and moving stuff around our state over bridges to nowhere!!

So, you're admitting that Palin lives in an "isolated" world? A "box" so to speak? Unaware and uninformed about the "Outside?" ;)

Not true, as I understand it. I believe they recently gave "permits" for private citizens to join the FUN.

I could be wrong. Don't really care. Not concerned with the wellbeing of wolves.

So.... this applies ONLY to game officials? THEY "fly in?" Or is this a law for "outsiders?"

Good point, but I was pointing out the international dealings our governor deals with on a daily basis. NOT just a negotiation with Canadians for a pipeline that is YET to be built.

And, due to the population, probably the second lowest MORTGAGE rate in the nation! How much does an igloo COST? :lol2:

You have to HAVE an "industry" before you can have it "outsourced" overseas! NC was the textile center of the country... AND the furniture capital of the country. Both have been sent overseas. I see you went to the same school as PALIN! :lol2: I'll have to think MORE than a minute to decipher THAT statement!

Nothwithstanding the obvious, that bridges are built from both ENDS towards the middle, the particular bridge was to connect an island with VERY few inhabitants.... who ALREADY had a road around the bay to get where they were going.... for NO GOOD REASON than comfort and JOBS.... and was to be PAID for by FEDERAL monies for a remote section of the world that no one HERE really cares about!

OH..... and wasn't Palin FOR it before she was AGAINST it? (or was it the other way around.... like anyone cares?)
