for the tip on stopping in Mt Vernon, Il., got the chance last night; ate a great breakfast at Denny's and got my truck restocked at Walmart.:thumbsup:

Big selection of eating places there...gonna have to stop by again and try another one out.:lol:

Mt Vernon Walmarts letting trucks on the lot again? 4-5 years ago it was a $50 fine.

I didn't pay any attention...it was walking distance from the truck stop.

There is a restaurant at a truck stop in Mt. Vernon that has good food. It is at the traffic light on the left before you get to the TA. I can't recall the name of the truck stop. They usually have good parking and it is usually much easier to get into than the TA.

That is a HUCK'S T/S, Gman. And yes, the food is pretty good and reasonably priced. It is also a vendor of Stuckey's snacks. The parking is limited, but not bad, and there is a gate in the fence so you can walk to the WallMart easily.

No, Phantom.... last time I was there you still were not allowed into the W/Mart parking lot. But, no need to with 3 T/S's within a short walk.

You're welcome, Bobski! You can stop by there and restock, eat well, and if you still have some time on your clock.... you can still run down and sleep at the Rend Lake Rest Area.

The T/A at that exit is not one of their best, but I believe it has IdleAire, and a fair amount of parking.

Wish I was still out there with the rest of you OTR guys! All this extra money I'm making on this dedicated run barely assuages my guilt for selling out! :lol2:

But, here's another little hint for YOU, Mike! If you park at the Huck's, as soon as you go through the gate, there are always Wallmart shopping carts waiting for you! You could get into one of them and PADDLE your way to the W/Mart! :clap:

THEN you could ask the "greeter" to give you one of those 3 wheelers to go shopping in! Wouldn't WANT a tanker yanker to actually get any EXERCISE! :hellno::lol2:

By comparison of most others you will run into in any average truckstop I'm on the low end......:eat:
